Young Alumni Award: Julie Ann Koeninger '81, T'85
October 1993

A graduate of Springfield (Massachusetts) High School (valedictorian, multiple scholarship winner, Who's Who in American High Schools, etc.), she wasn't looking north for a college. Not, that is, until a local alumnus and dentist, fellow name of Nicholson, came around pied-piping for Dartmouth. She was impressed, came up for a look, and the rest is his- tory. Bully for him and the better for us.

Not so bad for herself, either. She's said that a disproportionate part of her interests, even today, some- how involves Dartmouth, and it shows. Her recent wedding to Peter D'Anieri was held at the Aquinas House in Hanover, and most of her bridal party was made up of Dartmouth and Tuck class- mates. Small wonder. As an undergraduate she was cum laude in English with a citation in soci- ology; she wrote for The Dartmouth , was a member of Green Key and Fire & Skoal, and an Aquinas House officer; and she lettered in track (three D sweaters) and cross country. Since 1981 her Dartmouth interests and involvements have included enrollment work and her class executive committee; she has been a class agent, vice president, and president of Dartmouth Alumni Association of Eastern Massachusetts, and president of the Hub Club; and she is a currently a member of the College Relations Group of the Alumni Council's executive committee. On top of all that, she and her husband have been putting in extra hours in the Alumni in the Schools program. One of Julie's brothers, David, picked up on her enthusi- asm for Dartmouth and joined the class of 1986.

But let's not overlook her distinguished career: CIGNA Corporation, Citicorp, Dean Witter, and her present employer, John Hancock Financial Services, where she is an investment officer portfolio manager.

All of this adds up to an accumulation of talent and devotion to her College that more than explains and warrants this Young Alumni Distinguished Service Award, presented with boundless affection and admiration.
