After a bit of a drought we can report on three events well attended by our classmates.
First of all, Dick Page reports on "Celebrate Dartmouth in San Francisco," a roadshow production of The Will to Excel capital funds campaign. The event took place on October 9 last year, and Dick was involved as vice chair of the campaign. In the audience were a bunch of guys that we do not get to see here in the East very often: Dick Armstrong, MikeBiggs, John Dabney, Pete Kenyon, JoeMesics, and Bob Woodberry. Of course, the ubiquitous John Gillespie and Steve Mullins also were there.
Jerry Goldstein sends his report on '54 in Newjersey: to be specific, the "our crowd" on hand to see the Big Green victory over Princeton (34—20) to tie for the Ivy League championship—Dartmouth's third in a row. Jerry's roster of those on hand: Bob Adnopoz,Don Berlin, Bob Berry, Jay Chandler, JackChristy, Dick DavidofF,Jerry Goldstein, BobKirkpatrick, Mike Morrissey, Steve Mullins, Dick Page, Art Rauch, Harry Robinson,Stan Rosenberg, Tom Sayles, Mike Spicer,Sam Trock, Dick Trowbridge, Wayne Weil, and Frank Weiser.
Jerry Goldstein and Dick Page co-hosted the 11th annual 1954 New York Holiday Luncheon on December 9 in one of Jerry's modest dining rooms at Bear, Stearns & Co. As always, die 30 lucky attendees enjoyed a fine lunch and the right combination of serious and frivolous conversation. Jerry asked each of us to bring everybody up to date on his career activities and current status—all of us seem to be productive, with perhaps a question about just what it is that Jerry Barton does. Jay Chandler and Howie Aronson related a couple of stories that will not be repeated here. Clark Davis came all the way from Erie, Penn., but looked a bit nervous—the last time he saw Donna, she was charging up the escalator in Macy's, waving plastic in the air. John Gillespie made another pitch for the mini- reunion in Florida, and we will report on that fun-in-the-sun event in a later issue. Others on hand were Bryce Bastian, Bob Adnopoz, Don Berlin, Lon Chalkin, Lo-Yi Chan, BobClements, Dick Davidoff, Jay Davis, PeteGutlon, John Heston, Tom Kelsey, KentKlinemnn. Dick Lewis, Dave Mandelbaum,Dick Pearl, Art Rauch, Hugh Roberts, Harry Robinson, Tom Sayles, DickSteinberg, Bob Vorsanger, Frank Weiser, and Bill White.
Ferris Thompson has checked in from Pauma Valley, Calif., to give us the score on his and Beth's offspring, which number six, ranging from 28 to 34 years old. Beth has twin boys and Ferris has twin girls, both sets identical, and "it was and still is mind boggling." Ferris retired from private dental practice in 1988 but went back to work for the San Diego County Sheriff and has a "locked in" practice of 4,200 patients.
