Hope you all have had good summer vacations and are ready for a new school year. Alex Medlicott, wife Kristi, and daughters Ali and Emy were in South Dakota last fall for a family reunion with Kristi's family. A med school classmate of Alex reports that they have a wonderful balance of work and family. Activities include hiking, skiing, and animal husbandry (pigs, cattle, chickens).
In the announcements arena, "Wedding bells finally rang for John Wallace. He and Marjorie Crowell were married September 14, 1991. Brief visits with Randy Shepard, his wife, Yee, and Sam Cuddeback '71 rounded out the honeymoon trip to San Francisco. John and his wife live in Wellfleet, Cape Cod."
Jim and Karen Gottschalk proudly announce the arrival of a little Gotch, Eric James, on April 3.
A fax from Paul Tyson in London, where he is working in the American Embassy: "My college roommate John Rockwell has just arrived for a short visit and business trip to London and the South of England. When he called me last week to firm up details, he told me about David Carroll's death. How very sad. John said that David knew that he was HIV-positive for a while and that things went downhill quickly. His one-man show at reunion was a highlight of an eight-week home leave Susan and I enjoyed it immensely. I don't suppose anyone made a tape of it? What about some sort of class memorial for David? Nothing grand, but maybe we could raise some money to buy scripts for the drama department or something for one of the Hopkins Center theaters. I recall from one of the last newsletters that there was some sort of fishing around for a class project or cause. May I suggest oil, gas, and energy broadly defined? There seem to be a lot of geologists (Duncan Chisolm, where are you today???) mentioned in the newsletter. My stake in this has been a number of oil jobs in the Foreign Service. This includes my current job in London and my next job: I have been assigned to the Embassy in Kuwait as the economic counselor. I will transfer in the summer of 1993. Kuwait is just up the road from Dharan, where I served 1986-88."
Finally, from Young Dawkins, "The class of '72 will be joining the classes of '73-'76 for a mini-reunion at the Top of the Hop immediately after the Yale game on October 17. There will be hors d'oeuvres, juice, soda, and a cash bar. We encourage classmates and family members to go. Keep the cards, letters, and faxes coming.
