I received an interesting article from the January 21 issue of The Dartmouth this month. It seems President Clinton's wunderkind director of communications, George Stephanopoulos, is continuing the trend to bring young and bright newcomers into positions of power. As a result, our own Keith Boykin was named-special assistant to the President and director of news analysis in the White House. In his new position, Keith is in charge of media watching: compiling news clippings and constantly monitoring television news. While Keith holds a law degree from Harvard, he received a good deal of his training in Hanover as editor-in-chief of the Daily D. I quote from the article: "My experience at Dartmouth taught me that I can do anything if I put my mind to it. It instills self confidence in people to take on responsibility and difficult tasks." Keith served as Midwest press manager for the Clinton/Gore campaign.
The Manchester (N.H.) Union Leader recently featured Amy Keller Stephens for her contributions to Operation Desert Shield/ Storm in Saudi Arabia. As a captain in the air force, Amy provided daily intelligence briefings to Lt. General Charles Horner, the man who directed the air war over Iraq. Even General Schwarzkopf would occasionally sit in. Way to show the big guys who's in charge here, Amy! After her four-year stint with the air force expired, Amy returned to her hometown of Manchester, where she and husband Rick have a year-old daughter Jesse and another on the way. Amy is currently employed at Sonotech Corp., a Bedford software firm.
Congratulations to Bill Kelsey, who married Lea Dobbs in New York City in February. Bill is an insurance consultant with Gradmann & Holler Inc., an insurance brokerage in Frankfurt. Lea is a Tulane graduate who works as a marketing consultant in Frankfurt with St. Gallen Consulting. Now, when I first saw this announcement, I actually had the foolhardy idea to ring up Bill and find out who came to the wedding, what they are doing, etc.—until I figured out that Frankfurt probably means Germany, and I'm not sure if dialing 555-1212 works over there. So please, any Bill and Lea wedding revelers, fill us in. Quick notes: Claire Killeen recently landed a new job in the world of advertising at DDBO in New York, where she formerly worked for Saatchi & Saatchi. JulieGrossberg is in a similarly glamorous career in television production, also in the Big Apple. I spotted Jody Berkowitz from a distance, happily dancing at a wedding in Buffalo, N.Y., a while ago—one of those across-a-crowdedroom things—but I'm not sure what she's up to. I had the pleasure of sitting next to EricPeterson and his wife, Krista, at the same gala. Eric is an attorney in Boston, and Krista works in education. Brian Brady has been spotted as of late living in Dover, Mass. Happy slush season!
