APRIL 1994 Tom Harper,

The theme for this issue of the magazine is "Dartmouth's Gifts to the World," and although Flint Ranney thought that he should be featured, I just didn't think it was fair to single him out when so many other classmates are so worthy. My nominations would be Stew Wood and Pete Rosazza, our bishops, so different and yet so much alike. Stew is the bishop of the Episcopal diocese of Michigan in Detroit, where his praises are sung far and wide by his parishioners and the community in general. His domain consists of the Eastern half of Michigan, more than 160 churches. Pete Rosazza's work has been focused on the poor and impoverished in his parish. He is the auxiliary bishop of the Hartford diocese, based in New Haven. None of us who attended the class Memorial Service at our last reunion will ever forget the eloquence and thoughtfulness of these two classmates as they led our remembrances of our brethren.

The last weekend In January was the annual Fun City Fantastic in New York. This was Cube Conroy's big annual party, but unfortunately he was unable to attend he was recovering from a December heart attack which occurred at the very Yale Club where the festivities were held. Howard Sodokoff filled in for Cube and hosted the class meeting and dinner on Friday night without a hitch. Professor Don Pease enthralled the group with tales of teaching in Hanover. Saturday night was even more festive with almost 60 worthies showing up on a cold winter's night for black-tie celebrations at Doubles in honor of our mutual 60th birthday. Abby Rosenwald planned and hosted a fine evening for all. The final event of the weekend was a marvelous brunch hosted by Hal and Joan Gordon at their apartment on Riverside Drive. With their son Matt having just been admitted to die class of 1998, and their daughter Meredith on the track for the class of 2001, we doubt that they will be able to afford such lavishness on behalf of the class for several years.

Those attending at least one of the affairs referred to above included Roger and Sharon Schumaker, Flint and Corky Ranney Hal and Joan Gordon, Cyndy and Ab Oakes, Sybil and Wally Pugh, Bill and Karen Tell, Clem and Anne Malin Tom and Abby Rosenwald, Howard and Lois Sodokoff, Russ and Becky Brace, Dick and Georgia Whitney, Bob and Pam Faulkner, John and Ellen Higgs, Bob and Lynn Slater, Doug and Ginger Keare, Lee and Jane Gammill, Elliot and Alice Weinstein Skip and Margo Sisson, Al and Diane Friedman, Dutch and Lile Rosenberger, Leo McKenna and Chris Tomkins, Len and Lee Clark, Mike and Marge Grunebaum, Bud and Sheila Rosenthal, Ted and Nancy Bremble. Jack and Janet Tamagni, Sandra and Tom Harper, and Mike Zissu.
