By the time you read this, spring should be upon us, although it's hard to imagine that season as I peer out upon the six-foot drifts on my driveway. The snowblower paths criss-crossing the lawn make it look like a miniature of the Dartmouth Green I remember from the winters of the late sixties. Beneath the picturesque snow covering the roof of our house, thick ice has inched its way under the shingles and so, on the rare occasions when the air outside warms above freezing, it begins to rain in die kitchen as the ice melts and the water drips down through the ceiling. I bring these things up not to make you all nostalgic for winter in Hanover, but as a possible explanation for why the mailbox has been empty the last two months perhaps the airport is still closed and the post office has shut down for the duration... Please, write with your news about family, career, hopes and dreams, philosophy, even sightings of classmates! Anything! But write!
A couple of items from the grapevine: proud parents Jeff McElnea and wife Judy are busy keeping up with their daughter Joanna Lyn, who arrived on January 4, 1994.
Hotchkiss hockey coach Jeff Kosak was sighted recently at the Hartford Symphony with his team in tow. (Sure there wasn't a Whaler's game that night too?)
Class President Michael Maynard reminds us that the 25th Reunion is only two years away, and the reunion committee's planning efforts are already underway. As you know, this is "the big one," both from an attendance and a fundraising perspective. Classmates who would like to help with either the giving campaign or the reunion itself should get in touch with Michael or let me know.
One final word: pay your dues! With average participation rates of about 50 percent, class dues barely cover the costs of the Alumni Magazine and newsletter mailings, and multiple "dunning" notices cost money too. So don't put that dues notice on the bottom of the pile; write the check, lick the stamp, and send it in.
