Josh Rich recently submitted our annual class activity report, which outlined the several informal/mini/regional reunions and gatherings held last fall. Among the class projects mentioned were the '62 Faculty Fellowship and the award ceremony in Hanover on April 16, 1983. The second annual awards luncheon was set for May 4 to honor Assistant Professor Mark Packer of the philosophy department. The '62 Key Club had 144 members for the year. The number of dues paid was 406, for 65 percent participation. Dues will be increased to $20 in 1984.the '62-Plus-20 slide show was shown to various Dartmouth clubs and other gatherings across the ountry by Ross Burkhardt. Under Barry Alperin's leadership our class came in first in the Green Derby and established a new record for a class 21 years out of college. A major factor in these accomplishments was a high number of contributions via the June telethon. While on the subject of the Alumni Fund, the class so far is considerably behind in the Green Derby. I urge you once again to support the 1984 drive as you have supported drives in the past. The class executive committee will meet in New York City in May to discuss our 25th reunion and the update of the slide show. We have also begun planning for our '84 annual fall dinner in Hanover, scheduled for October 20.

I recently received a letter from John Clark who had recently attended a lecture at Ridgewood's Valley Hospital. The lecture, "Radiation Therapy in Early Treatment of Breast Cancer," was given by Robert L.Goodman, one of the foremost authorities on the subject in America. Bob was offered the position of chief of radiation therapy at the hospital of the University of Pennsylvania when he was only 35, and he enjoys a national reputation for his work in this field. John said that Bob is a first rate speaker/teacher, and except for some necessary medical jargon prompted by questions from the many physicians in the audience, even John understood what was said. Bob had indicated that while lumpectomies and radiation are not right for all breast cancers, where viable they are medically comparable to mastectomies (in terms of long-term survival rates), and they are cosmetically superior.

I want to thank Dana Grossman for all her help over the years in her capacity as class notes and obituaries editor. Since her promotion to the post of associate editor several months ago, Dana has continued her efforts with the class secretaries while the Magazine searched for her replacement. Teri Allbright has taken over the responsibility as of April 2. Teri has written several profiles on alumni for the class notes section over the past year. She earned her bachelor's degree at the University of Texas at Austin and her master's at Stanford. After several years of teaching English at the secondary level, she switched careers to publishing, holding several magazine internships and then joining the editorial staff of TV Guide. She was a senior editorial assistant there when she left to move to the Upper Valley a year and a half ago. For a couple of months she did some free-lance writing for the Magazine. Then the new campus newsletter, VOX of Dartmouth, was lucky enough to acquire her services as assistant editor, and now the Magazine has been lucky enough to lure her back. I look forward to working with her and to meeting her at Class Officers Weekend this month.

I would certainly appreciate hearing from additional members of the class.
