As part of my secretarial duties, I paid a visit to Hanover for Class Officers Weekend in the spring. Campus was beautiful, and, as I arrived before most of tine other attendees, I got a chance to stroll around on my own. The Hop was swirling with students, as was Thayer Hall, but the new Collis Center seems to have taken center stage as the focal point of student activity. It is quite handsome and functional to boot.

Two new additions to campus are the Burke Laboratory for Chemistry and the Sudikoff Center for Computer Science. The chem lab is a state-of-the-art facility for organic types (chemistry, not vegetables), complete with nuclear resonance imaging equipment. The Sudikoff Center is housed in what was the old mental health building by Mary Hitchcock. While it was not completed by tour time, it is super high-tech, and from what little I know of these things, is way out there. Of course funding for the project came from JeffreySudikoff, who has had a busy season spending money—he just purchased a majority stake in the L.A. Kings Hockey franchise.

I also paid a quick visit to Dick's House. Dick's House is a class project of ours which we inherited from the class of '27 at our graduation. With the departure of Mary Hitchcock Hospital to Lebanon, the availability of medical advice and facilities has taken on added importance to students and College employees. The vitality and enthusiasm of the staff was very encouraging, and we discussed a number of worthwhile projects (to be reviewed by Ritchie Bain) to help them continue their role providing basic medical services for the community.

Finally, I did something I did a lot during our undergraduate days: I went to Sanborn Library to read and got in an excellent nap and a soothing cup of tea. We had a brief officer's meeting where we agreed to communicate better and get some momentum going around mini-reunions, fundraising and newsletters. Good goals all.

Janet Kluczinski is organizing a minireunion October 15 complete widi a tailgate next to the '76s at Thompson Arena and a postgame shindig at the Hop. Check it out. When she's not doing this or running sales management seminars for Stratus Computer, she is curling. No, not her hair—those funny stones they slide on ice. Eskimo shuffle board. She's even planned a summer tournament. Sounds amphibious, I mean ambitious.

Janet said she keeps up with Linda Bannon, and coincidentally I ran into Linda the next weekend at a dance hall in Marin. She just moved there and loves it. Linda's company won the TV rights to broadcast the World Cup back to Australia. It was a big hit.

In other career news, Gary and Jill Rogers are going overseas. Wellfleet Communications, where Gary has worked the last couple of years, is counting on these bon vivants to spearhead their European-distribution effort. A little LSA goes a long way I guess. If they need any culture lessons they can call John Mugglebee and his wife, who've been laissing les bon temps rouler in Paris for some time.

My wife, Mary, and I had dinner with Brianand Peggy McCloskey and Bill Narin recently. While Peggy attended a law conference, Brian wandered the city streets fantasizing about turning all those chic black rubbersoled boots he kept seeing into hockey pucks for his UNH team. Meanwhile, Bill is getting started with a new networking company and trying to do some networking of his own.

This is the first column of my third year as secretary. Any and all comments and news items are welcome.
