Last time a little-known southern governor threatened an incumbent President for office, it was the fall of our senior year and we were starting to contemplate future autumns beyond Dartmouth Hall. I am pleased to report lots of great things are going on. For starters. I got a call from Al Sinsheimer

who's stationed in New York with Goldman Sachs. He enjoyed a mini-Bones Gate reunion with Edward Callaway and John Norton and families in Crested Butte which consisted of a summer weekend of fun and sun in the Colorado Rockies. Both Edward and john are working out there with Crested Butte and Aspen ski areas, respectively. One benefit of their jobs is that they get to entertain fresh air child Al from time to time. Thanks, guys.

I had breakfast with another Coloradobased '77 last month in Denver. CharlieKrupanszky lives in nearby Dillon where he enjoys skiing, winter camping, and golf while working at the Keystone Ranch resort. It's a wholesome, happy life—one that many of us think about but too few of us pursue. We were laughing about his term on LSA in Bourges with a group of '76s and '77s. They terrorized the locals with their American brand of soccer. Back in Bourges they must still be talking about the tactics of "Les Americains."

Sverre Caldwell is also spending time on the slopes. He was recently appointed Headmaster of the Stratton Mountain School. Sverre, his wife, Lilly, and their three kids have been at the school for 12 years, during which time he has been ski coach and math professor and now this. I can imagine him and his charges whizzing around on roller skis preparing for the winter season. Best of luck in your new post, Sverre, and send the College any scholar skiers who come along.

Back on the Wall Street beat, I found AlanFolz's name in the Shearson Lehman directory in Dallas. Alan targets retirement planning accounts in his role as a financial consultant for Shearson in Dallas. As a getaway, Alan travels extensively. His most recent trip to Zimbabwe, including the Mana Pools and Victoria Falls, sounded more than a world a way from IRA rollovers; certainly more hippos and zebras than bulls and bears.

Tom Russo gained some measure of fame a few months ago having been singled out by Fortune magazine as one of the bright young stars in the investment-management business. He claims Warren Buffett as his guiding influence, but he attributes much of his success to his wife Gina Tugwell with the real market insights. Sounds like a great team. Any hot tips for your class secretary would be appreciated and handled discreetly.

Rumor has it that Jamie Pfaff is living in Singapore with his wife, Paula, and two kids (one brand-new). He is head of creative for Leo Burnett there. His roommate from South Mass, Andy Rayburn, had to miss reunion this year because Andy and his wife, Sarah, were preparing for the arrival of daughter Iris. Congratulations to both families. I hope you two get together sometime for another theatrical extravaganza like you put on senior year. Election campaigns may be a ripe target.

I received a nice note from Ken Rentier's family recently. Ken and his wife, Susan, live in Wisconsin with their three young sons. Susan claims Ken is nearing paradise with the end of his residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin in sight and a built-in foursome for golf. I hope you're giving them strokes, Ken.

Thanks for the news. Keep making it.
