In the spring of 1948 Dartmouth and Yale both had good baseball teams, Yale's nine being captained by George Bush, who was elected 41st President of the United States 40 years later. Both RF Dave Barr and LF Hank Mueller remember the taut rivalry of that season and the fact that Yale won the EIL by beating the Green in its final game in Hanover that June.

took him aside from the line, and confirmed that he had not panicked, but that he had properly covered first for the throw. Unfortunately, he said, neither Yale pitcher Quinn nor 2B Matthews went for the ball, and it rolled for a hit. The incident makes a good story, and Dave and Hank and others are trying to fill in the pieces. Who made the bunt, etc? Can you help?

Homer Young was subject of a May interview in the Lawrence, Mass., Eagle Tribune Writer. This prominent architect, now living in Hampstead, N.H., has designed many buildings in the long Merrimack Valley. Homer's philosophy: "I've loved the work since I was young. The challenge is always there. If I had to do it all over again, I'd be an architect." Do Homer and fellow '48 architect Stan Alger in Osterville ever compare notes?

Ira "Murphy" Robins and Ken Young were longtime classmates at Southside High together in Rockville, Long Island, before going to Dartmouth with the V-12. Ken is now an active golfer in West Florida at Fort Meyers, while Murph and a partner are smallconstruction contractors on the East Coast at Boca. Murph says their company has never had a name. But alas, a new state moneymaking law is forcing them to buy a license, so they need a name. Any suggestions? He also mentioned his old roommate from 314 New Hamp, Rim Rimbach, who's in real estate in Brewster, Mass. Rim goes down to see Murph and Suzanne in Boca. The only others Murph and I could remember from that magnificent Winnipesaukee canoe trip in 1944 are Dick Bredenburg and the late Bob Tracy. We've both lost the famous group photo. (Those who remember, please help us recall the others.)

Hope you get back to Hanover this fall to see the North Country in its flaming autumn glory. (Surely Paul Liscord of Contoocook and old friend Bob Foster will be among the many attending games on Memorial Field.)

With great personal sadness I note the passing in April of surgeon Bob Kirkpatrick of Meadvill, Pa. His multitude of '48 friends send regrets to Nancy and their sons.
