October 1995 Christopher K. Onken,

Excited about the Contract with America? Can't wait for those orphanages to open and NPR and PBS to go off the air? Looking for someone to blame? Hunt down Alex Mooney, who's working for Congressman Hohn Boehner, chairman-House Republican Conference. Alex (purposefully, I guess) switched jobs in January to "assist in passing the Republican Contract with America." On the side he offers whiz-bang tours of the Capitol, so call him at the office. When not conspiring to cut NEH funding, Alex hangs out with John Stanton and Mike Pevzner. John, by now, is at work again in his third year at Georgetown Law, and Mike is serving time with the army (Alex was unable to offer operation specifics confidential).

In stunning contrast, Liza Veto wrote from her Dick's House office, where she has been working as the assistant coordinator of the Sexual Awareness and Abuse Program while a nation-wide search is in progress to replace Heather Earle. Abby Ross has been "doing education" for WISE concerning domestic and sexual violence in Vermont middle and high schools in addition to "advocating for teen survivors and providing direct service and resources for clients of all ages" at WISE's offices in Lebanon. Jenny Dahlstein has been living in Boston and working for John Snow Inc., "a company that raises money and coordinates public-health projects in places like Mali, Nepal, Yemen, and Morocco."

Having abandoned her glamorous job with an international cosmetics marketing firm, Nicola L. Zesiger worked for the International Rescue Committee before beginning a non-profit management M.B. A. program at the Columbia Business School. "IRC is a nonprofit organization which provides emergency relief to refugees around the world.... My job is to write the fundraising proposals to get grants from foundations."

According to Natalie Weidener, Deborah Bernstein abandoned the East Coast after working in New York for Goldman Sachs and has started at Stanford Business School. Craig Radway fled from the "Senate side of Capitol Hill" and celebrated his acceptance at Columbia Med School with a five-week trip to the Far East. This fall Natalie began her third year at the George Washington National Center in D.C. She is engaged to fellow law student Michael Drager (Lehigh '9l) and has planned a stress-free summer following her graduation: the bar exam and an August wedding. Enjoy.

Don't miss everyone's favorite six-man quartet at Homecoming—Spontaneous Combustion will reconvene where you least expect them. Expect Dave Kaiser (Hahvahd—double Ph.D. program in physics and history of science), Bill Lapcevic (in between visits to South America and the Middle East searching for non-union, cheap, child-exploiting labor for his toy distribution job in Greenwich, Conn.), Norm Roye (who still can't find his way out of Kiewit), Ted Wallace (in the process of quitting his job for CompUSA in L.A. and looking for a computer job, any job, in Portland, Ore.), and Jeff Cobb '92 and Lew Cirne (both at Apple Computers in Silicon Valley) to once again huddle together and dazzle innocent bystanders.

Senior Week, that blissful time now two years past, a time of thoughtless splendor, unfathomable hedonism, instant love, infinite devotion, and heartfelt ardor continues to leave a trail of torrid romance and lusty promises. Adrienne Paine and Doug Johnston, who first felt the touch of Cupid's piercing arrow during that steamy week in June, have announced their engagement.

And at long last, Hanover will finally be free of another hanger-on as he (purportedly) begins a Ph.D. program in comp lit at Pennking of the mooch, Mr. In-touch-with-hisdestiny, not-a-care-in-the-world, hasn't-done- a-stitch-of-real-work-since-graduation, Jon Eburne. "It finally got to the point where no one would invite me over for dinner. Rent was due, my credit rating is in the dumps, and I just figured, 'Hey, why not?'"
