Most of you, I'm sure, and occasionally DAM's student assistants, assume that, because I'm your secretary I write all those 1930 obituaries. I became class secretary in 1983, an abysmal blunder by thenpresident Ev Low, who once said it was the best thing he ever did for the class. In those days obits were of generous length, and I wrote altogether too many. Occasionally we found a close friend or family member who could give an obit a more personal touch. In his great wisdom, Charlie Widmayer, who became our president in 1985, lifted a great burden from the secretary's shoulders by asking Garven Dalglish to take on the necrological job, which Garven has done for almost a decade, very competently and modestly, without a by line or other recognition. He is 1930's unsung hero. I have to say "Thanks, Garven."

Speaking of obits, most of us are uncertain about current channels and procedures. Initially, notification should be directed ASAP to the Alumni Records Office, Fleet Building, 63 S. Main Street, Hanover, NH 03755, together with any pertinent clippings, etc. And don't hesitate to phone: (603) 646-2253. It is permissible to notify the class secretary, as I would send it immediately to the AROunless I happen to be roaming the girdled earth. Once notified, Alumni Records gathers all the information found in its files and passes it to the Alumni magazine, whence it is forwarded to the obit writer in our case, our necrologist.

One of our few remaining hard core employed, a real diehard, is Donald A.Shaskan, M.D.,assistant clinical professor of psychiatry, University of California School of Medicine, San Francisco, and Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Association.

Last November Don directed the 40th Group Therapy Symposium, co-sponsored by the University's medical school and Office of Continuing Medical Education. The threeday session was attended by 79 professionals. Don says it was one of the best, in both its excellent faculty and the maturity of the trainees.
