I know all of you join me in offering condolences to Fran Horn in his, and our, loss of Billie, his wife and much-traveled partner of almost 60 years and a regular at most of our reunions. We'll miss her.

In March I hinted at a mysterious 1930 romance in Florida, only to learn recently from Bob Chittim that the marriage of Louise Middleton to Harold M. Perry had already taken place on January 21.1 can blame normal publication lag-time for my tardiness in getting this to you, but in proofreading the March galley I overlooked the misspelled name of Wally Blakey. Of course, you'll all want to go back to March and add the final "Y."

Did you feel that country-wide tremor on the ides of March? That was in celebration of Milt McInnes's 90th birthday. He's not our Most Eldest, but he does deserve all the honors he's earned.

I have in hand Bob Keene's January 10 list of all those then intending or hoping to come to the 65th Reunion, and at that early date it appeared that 1930 would indeed set a new Dartmouth record for the 65th as I predicted last September. I'm pleasantly surprised by some whom I haven't seen for many years; and one hopeful, nameless here, who, I'm quite sure, has never before attended a reunion or mini. There are also our faithful 1930 widows, some of whom we haven't seen for a long time. They'll be welcome guests.

Ginny Chilcote, in a Christmas note, said she wants very much to come but will be waylaid by a family wedding: Among those missing from the January list are my compatriots Gwen and Hank Odbert at whose marriage in wartime Washington I served as best man, and whom I visit from time to time in Pensacola. A phone call indicates that they are unlikely to be with us, for reasons that are not uncommon in our Golden Age.

Finally, Chuck and Bobbie Jacobs, who had intended to come, now find that they can't because of a grandchild's wedding. Naturally, having reported not long ago the birth of Charles R. Jacobs V, we approve, as we want the dynasty to continue.
