Your eyes flit over the boldface names. Oh God, you moan, not again. But I must. Because, you see, I owe Ted Demopoulos an apology. At least, I think I do. I received a London-postmarked postcard from him (or someone purporting to be him) in which he writes, "It's so nice to read so much about me lately. It's all true, but I sent none of it in. I think Chris Sluggo Hull did."
And on the subject of Londoners and ears, I wore but two earrings, one per side in the prescribed manner, to the ravishing April nuptials of Melissa Kaish. Before I go any farther I want to remind you that you read about La Kaish's budding romance with lowa-bred, London-based, Morgan Stanley principal Jonathan Dorfman here first. Did I mention he speaks fluent Japanese? The wedding took place in New York, Melissa's hometown, and two chirpier lovebirds you never did see.
Lynn Johnson Kidder (who just moved from San Diego to Menlo Park, Calif., in the name of radiology) was one of the bridesmaids. Husband Peter Kidder, Jessica RosenbergBrown, Mike Fisch, Keith Moscow (with wife Allison Shutz '85), and Meg Geldens were mere civilians at the Harvard Club reception (a tiny flaw, but Melissa spent a year at Harvard's School of Architecture). Meg, by the way, who was there with significant other Michael Doyle '84, is also an inhabitant of London, where she works for First Boston's media group.
Other alums there to see Melissa whisked off in a horse-drawn carriage for (a) the Plaza and (b) Fiji and Australia, were Eric Christensen and Sue Elliot (both '82s and married to each other), Etienne Boillot '81, Derek Brown 'BO, Hal Frazier '79, Steve Kim '80, Deirdre McDonald '86, and Mary Sarazan Tsuboi '82. And I know I shouldn't waste space on non-classmates but I can't resist: Alex Blumrosen '82 flew in from Paris (where Melissa used to live) with his French bride of two weeks. When asked what language they argue in, the two looked at each other, cooed, and said, "We don't." Sucre bleu! Next month: how Mike Fisch almost passed up a blind date with his Ford Model wife, Laura.
If Mike had, indeed, been so foolish, he could have just high-tailed it out to sunny LA and one of Jon Merriman '82's renowned parties. That's where, I hear, Ed Lear met hsi wife Lynne '86, a couple of years ago. Actually, he and the former Miss Lynne Ten Hoopen had one date at Dartmouth that was, in the words of an impeccable So. Cal. classnotes source, "a total bust." Fortunately, fate in the form of the Fat Man offered them another chance. Eddie, in case you were wondering, has his own Beverly Hills law firm, Gerry and Lear.
And it's been a while since I dreamed of Steve Hommeyer - long enough for the Hommeyer family to expand to include the latest addition, Karl, who is probably one by now, and move to Minnesota, where Steve is from.
