Wes Wang, vice president of Euro Brokers Emerging Markets, spent much of the summer in Mexico City. He has been working with Rocco Ancorolla (the owner of Boom, a hot restaurant in Manhattan) on a new French- Vietnamese restaurant/bar which should open this fall on Crosby and Howard streets. He is also involved in an indoor rock-climbing wall project.

Nancy Staab, Jenn Scott, JenniferGittes, Liza Lavado, Carol Malcolm,Jane Williams, Anthony Vale, JasonKable, Lisa Porter Kable, Diane MuttiBurke, and Dave Burke '89 attended JaneVarner and Amit Malhotra's combined Hindu-Catholic wedding in Frederick, Md., in the summer of '95. Jane and Amit now live in Ann Arbor, Mich., where Amit is attending the M.B.A. program and Jane is running executive education seminars at the business school. Jane reports that JenBond is also there working on her dissertation in anthropology and that DougKylander is also in the M.B.A. program and lives a few doors away.

Though I missed seeing the Academy Awards this year, I heard from various sources that Anne Sundberg was thanked on international television for her work on One Survivor Remembers, which won for short-subject documentaries. Anne is currently working with Ricki Stearns '87 on the tentatively titled Knockout Dreams, a documentary on the lives of two amateur boxers in NYC.

Annie reports that Gwen Bethel graduated from Boston College Law School and moved to NYC, where she hopes to work in entertainment law; Jay Benson graduated from Tuck and is consulting in Vermont; Mark Underhill traveled in Indonesia last year and then returned to San Diego to complete his master's in education.

Sue Carter moved to Miami almost a year ago with her husband Carl Deblois '88, where she continues to work long distance in international sales for High Performance Systems, a Hanover-based software company. She and Carl love Florida weather and encourage others to move out of snowy climates. For the scoop on Miami or the Keys, e-mail Sue at .

Brooks Preston left his position in the Washington, D.C., office of Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy to obtain a law degree, but they wouldn't let him leave the capital. He is working again as a political appointee "down at the Forest Service (actually in the under secretary's office, which oversees the Forest Service, among other things)" and will be in D.C. for one more year.

Brooks wrote that he and Curt Fish attended Bill Hess's bachelor party. I thought Bill had bachelor parties every weekend, but apparently this one was special. Brooks had also been canoeing with Laura Van Wie and her husband, Bob.

Brian Mittman is now in his second year at Harvard Business School. In good form, he claims that the quality of the education is better than he had expected.

Rita Patel is a legislative assistant to Representative Jim McDermott, a Democrat from the state of Washington. She covers domestic issues, foreign affairs, and women's issues.

Last June Greg Gilbert was named vice president, general counsel for Simply Interactive, the company which acquired Webbed Communications last April. Gilbert was cofounder, president, and chief operating officer of Webbed Communications, which is a developer and provider of Internet and Intranet products and services. Simply Interactive develops educational and corporate Internet products.

I deeply regret that I have to report that Chuck Drake lost his life in a climbing accident with Josh Hane '89 in July. Chuck had been in an M.F.A. program in jewelry design in Seattle and had traveled with Josh to Alaska to attempt Mt. Hunter. A more complete obituary will follow. Our hearts are with their families.
