Our cheerful, conscientious, and careful treasurer, Jack Zellers, has submitted his annual report. Building on the solid foundation of the late, great Craig Haines, Jack produced, with your help, a surplus of $589.81 to add to our bank accounts for a total of $6,378.34. Why can't we get a treasurer like that for the U.S. of A.?

Desperately looking for news, I called, among others, Jerry Sass, who said he didn't have any except that Ted Baehr had been a houseguest recently. So I called Ted, who told me that his son, Ted Jr., is moving to Camarillo, Calif., and he, Ted Sr., is driving his son's Cadillac from Atlanta to Camarillo while Lili, the son's wife, drives the van. I didn't get what the son is driving. For those of us who consider driving to the supermarket and back an adventure, that is quite a drive. Ted says he plans to stay awhile in California to see what he can pick up in the way of an acting part. Of course he is one of our younger members being only 89.

I called Ed Flanders as usual and, as usual, he had no news except that he had just picked five quarts of blueberries. It seems to me that that is a notable quantity of blueberries considering the temptation to eat as you pick.

Happily, for the second month in a row, I have no deaths to report.
