Notice of the class dues of $31 was just received from Phil Holden, and I hope that each of you '31 will remit that amount so that Phil will be able to get a handle on the condition of the class finances ASAP.
Your scribe's application for residence at a local senior center was accepted, and now comes the job of disposing of this property, getting rid of junk, and moving. That procedure might interfere with my plans to attend the mini-reunion during Penn game weekend, but I have ordered tickets for the nearby Lehigh and Princeton games. Both should be good contests in fact some predict that the latter will be for the Ivy championship. Most appreciated were notes of condolence received from many '31s. They have been of great comfort during the time it has taken for me to get back up to speed.
Sorry to have to report the losses of Eric Wollaeger on March 6, and Bill Wendell and Buell Whitehill on August 4.
In the September issue of DAM readers were challenged to suggest a new symbol or mascot. My suggestion is the "Skralings," reputed occupants of New England coastal regions and very tough cookies they were who drove out the Viking invaders circa 1,000 A.D. Having heard no claims of such ancestry, this symbol should be politically correct which could not be said for another thought the "dingbats" of Archie Bunker's menagerie. Perhaps research here and in Norway could create a "Skraling" likeness.
