I can't believe spring is here (especially since I'm writing this in November). But indulging myself for a moment in my future/present altered existence, I would like to make a pitch for alumni interviewing. I have begun now (in November) conducting alumni interviews for members of the class of 2000, which will know shortly (in April) whether they've been accepted. If any of you have an interest, I urge you to contact your local alumni leadership and volunteer your time and experience to interview candidates. Just think of the poetic symmetry of interviewing for the first time for the class of 'O1. That's the end of my public service announcement.

This month marks the first occasion when I can happily share with you news I received from classmates. Jason Greer sent a cryptic postcard which bore a picture of Alaska but carried a Hawaiian return address. Honeymooning, maybe?

Jason eloped with Lucy Kim last May and has traveled with her across the continental United States and spent ten weeks in Israel. Last summer he traveled to our 49th state to catch thousands of Alaskan salmon. In fact, in one 12-hour period, he and a crew of three netted 2,100 fresh salmon, headed for fancy china plates in restaurants across the country, no doubt. Mmmm. Showing no signs of slowing the pace of their intrepid travels, the Greers spent the winter in South Korea.

Julie Warren Schorer also sent a note to let us know that she and her husband, Scott, have been happily married for more than two years. Scott rows crew for the U.S. national sculling team, competed in the world championships last August in Tampere, Finland, and tried out for the 1996 U.S. Olympic team last fall. Whew. Let me catch my breath for a moment...Julie earned a master's in clinical psychology and is now working as a fertility counselor. (Julie, you left me hanging here. I believe I would not be alone in wanting to hear more details about your profession.)

Way back in April last year, I mentioned to classmates attending Kendall Genre and Sander Connolly's wedding that I was going to run for co-class secretary. A few promised that they would write if I was elected and don't worry, I know who you are. I'm pleased to share, though, that Lindsay Latimore sent a cheerful "Happy Halloween" letter last October to keep her most honorable word. I couldn't possibly do her humorous note any justice, I'm afraid, but I will share the best parts. Lindsay lives in Seattle with Victor Crosby, her fiance. They plan to be wed in October, after the Olympic hoopla ends in Atlanta. A technical editor for Microsoft in Seattle, despite being a self-confessed technophobe, Lindsay seeks outlets for her creative energies. At last word, she reported that she's in a growth phase—which means, if all has gone well, her hair length is probably midway between chin and shoulder now. Lindsay remains close friends with Jill Waller, who tied for highest grade-point average in her international studies program at the University of Washington last year. Jill has also succumbed to the thriving high-tech job market in the Northwest and is exploring opportunities in technical documentation

(sorry, no interpretation was provided). Speaking of technology, I've just gotten an Internet address and invite all techies to reach out and type me. Ugh. I'm sorry, that was hardly punny.
