Robin Robinson writes, "The death on December 12,1995, of Dorothy Morgan Strong, widow of one member of the class of '24 and sister of another, touched chords of fond affection and sincere appreciation in the hearts of her Hanover neighbors and friends.

With her husband, Bob, who lived for all too short a span of time, Dot was active in arts and crafts, and they were cofounders of the Hanover Council of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen, leading to the current building which bears Bob's name. The half-century of her widowhood largely devoted to service to her adopted town and its children constituted an example rarely equalled locally. For a time after her settlement on Reservoir Road she continued her activity in the arts and served the College as Sanborn House librarian. She was elected to the school

board for two terms, was a charter member of the parks and recreation board, and served on the Hanover Senior Citizens Council. But then an accident of local history placed her next to the new Ray School, which she quickly adopted as if it were her own, appearing there virtually every school day for 16 years to teach weaving to the students in the early grades and organize the school's colonial house project.

"It was no accident that the memorial following her death was held at 'her school,' a gathering attended by numerous friends and by three generations of her descendants. It was providential that Hanover placed her photograph in the Town Report for the year preceding her death. A splendid citizen!"
