APRIL 1996 Doug Ireland,

Absolutely no inspiration for the column this month. No theme, no angle, just snippets of news from around the country. I had a clipping about Jim Truncellito that was so old I had to call him to see if he held the same position. The answer-yes. Jim has been doing insurance work since Dartmouth and from the sound of it, he did a fair amount of prospecting with his friends from Beta before graduation. He keeps up with StevenLentine in nearby Billerica and was able to report Bill Klupchak is now at Inland Steel in Chicago and Bill Jarrett is in Minneapolis (we think with Prudential).

Neal Webber's family business recently sold out to a Midwestern outfit, leaving Neal with some decisions to make about what to do next. In the interim, he has more time for his three kinds. Coincidentally, the company sold to Charlie Krupanszky's father-in-law's company. Small world. Charlie meanwhile is refurbishing an old miner's home in Leadville, Colo.

A casualty of corporate restructuring, Bill Gentes is looking for work in the Amherst area. Having held a variety of positions with Quebecorp the last dozen years, he is optimistic about finding a challenging new position but is less sanguine about being able to stay put. Anybody got any suggestions? With the Olympics fast approaching, Tal Ittner has been entertaining offers to rent out his place in Atlanta for $1,000 a day. My suggestion: take the money and run.

Gusharn Rakhra recently joined the medical staff at Bassett Healthcare in Cobleskill, N.Y. He's been practicing general medicine and gastroenterology for the last while at Delaware Valley Hospital in Walton. Sharni may have the most international medical resume in the class, having attended graduate school in Canada before getting his M.D. in Ireland.

And now for a piece of bizarre biomedicine, Michael Sabolinski's employer, Organogenesis, is producing a skin substitute cultured from infant foreskin. They are applying to the FDA for formal approval on the product and should hear soon. Not since the days of Herrod were people as scared for the safety of their baby boys.

Steve Tosh sent a note about his new position with the Justice Resource Institute in Boston directing their youth programs.

He, his wife Diane, and their three children relocated from Albany to Cambridge, where he is also finishing his Ph.D. in criminology. One connection he sought out was Fayerweather friend, MikeBrigham. Maybe these two could form Beantown's answer to the Dynamic Duo.

Speaking of Boston, I understand Jennifer Warren was in a show that came through there this winter. Anybody out there with news of her troupe's where-abouts, drop a line.

Gary Mayo was recently honored by his national industry group as one of 23 insurance underwriters for leadership in their professional and personal lives. Gary has been with A.B. Gile in Hanover for 14 years. They cited Gary for his "unflagging enthusiasm," something he has brought to our class over many years of service. Congratulations.

Sorry for the lifeless copy. Give me some more inspiring stuff for next month!
