Although spring renews the joie de vivre for many, I regret to report that AmyNaparstek is not one of them. Unfortunately, Amy died in a car accident while returning home from Canada. On behalf of the '95 class, I send Amy's family our condolences. On a lighter note, Melissa Trumbull, who is working for Andersen Consulting's marketing division in Sydney, Australia, is starved for some familiar faces. She wrote, "I promise to be a good tour guide, provide a place to crash, and even a home-cooked meal. And if those things aren't tempting enough, the weather is unbeatable in the 80s, sunny, breezy, and all-around gorgeous!" I'm tempted to pack my bags and head to Australia, that is unless I stop in Greece first. Becky Liddicoat wrote from Greece, where she teaches history at a British high school. She's eager to entertain any Dartmouth folks who want to vacation in Athens. Look her up at the Campion School.
Even though Becky is on another continent, she had lots of news on her friends living in the continental U.S. Becky wrote that Erin Gaffney is doing a Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Pittsburgh. Erin is working with infants of severely depressed mothers. Merry Lerner spent some time in Israel before working as a production assistant on a soap opera in NYC, Lauren Lieberman loves her job with Merrill Lynch, and Katie Hughes had a near-death experience when she plummeted 50 feet while hiking in Yosemite. When Jenn Chapman wrote from San Francisco, she was enjoying some down time in between cases. As a consultant for Mercer, Jenn loves the frequentflier miles, but she misses sleeping in her own bed and not being able to stay in touch with everyone on a daily basis. Her e-mail reported that Nat Schindler, KurtBruggeman, and Dennis Phelps are doing well as investment bankers. Jenn added that Joey Muller, Justin Wells, and Todd Miller have a house in the city and are trying to establish themselves in the music biz. If you're in the Bay area, look for their band in local bars.
Linda Albers is studying law at Ohio State but she managed to take a break long enough to visit Debbie A. Healy for a 24hour whirlwind tour of Chicago. Linda's only purchase on the posh Michigan Avenue "was a pair of sneakers to keep up with Debbie's warp-speed walking pace." Knowing Debbie's propensity to travel solely by foot, I think Linda's purchase was a wise one. Debbie is studying law at the University of Chicago. Heather Geisberg received the Raoul Wallenberg Scholarship to spend the 1995-96 academic year at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She was selected on the basis of superior academic abilities, individual initiative, and leadership skills. This unique opportunity allows Heather to attend weekly seminars and participate in internships, tutorials, and site visits with Israel's leaders.
Candice Jim merson is the Culver Academy's faculty intern in the history department. She will teach classes, serve as a role model for students, supervise students in the dormitories, and coach athletic teams. Jason Roelke wrote that he was a lifeguard with Davis Brewer and DaveSchumacher before he started working in NYC. Jason's been hanging out with GuyDixon and Lucas Rosen in the Big Apple but he didn't give away any more information than that. So, Guy and Lucas, tell us what you're up to.
