During Class Officers Weekend in May we were awarded the honorable mention for Class of the Year in the "under 25 years out" category. Bob Barr, our class newsletter editor, will publish the citation in the next issue.
Bob's son Gordon, a cybernaut of the first order, has created an interactive home page for our class on the World Wide Web which you can view at .
Rick Wild is running for Congress in Rhode Island. Rick received his M.D. at UVM in 1976. Having chosen Dartmouth over West Point, Rick fulfilled his military destiny by serving five years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, qualifying as a paratrooper "by jumping out of perfectly good airplanes" (as the marines would say).
After the army, Rick got a law degree at night from the National Law Center at George Washington University while working as a senior federal government official in health care positions. He practiced healthcare law in Boston before returning home to Rhode Island, where he is an emergency room physician at Newport Hospital and a clinical assistant professor at Brown's medical school.
Married to Dr. Anne Spaulding, a specialist in infectious diseases, Rick allowed no time for a midlife crisis before running for Congress. If you see Rick at our 25th Reunion in 1998, make sure you have some time to spend before you ask him what he's been up to since graduation.
George Kidder is president of KDK Capital Advisors, L.P., a money management firm in Boston. His "free" time is spent coaching youth sports teams in Wellesley, where he is also president of all youth baseball programs, no doubt a huge responsibility.
Dave Clark is lawyering for United Dominion International Corp. and spending some time in China starting up a metal building manufacturing business.
Bruce Ling is doing syndications with Credit Suisee in NYC and has been quoted recently in the Wall Street Journal on this subject. Bill Kellogg is the president and the manager of the Lajolla Beach and Tennis Resort in California. Bill has .generously hosted the Dartmouth tennis team every March at his resort.
Special thanks to Mark Harty, himself a former class secretary, for providing us with news of Rick, George, Dave, Bruce, and Bill. Scott Anderson coached Harvard's lacrosse team to a successful winning season and a lOth place national ranking last spring.
Too Many Games Without a Helmet Dept: My typo resulted in publishing the wrong e-mail address for HarleyKaufman. His e-mail address is: . My apologies to those who tried to e-mail Harley and got instead either a cyberporn site or the Vatican Library On Line. Don't worry, in my current line of work I don't punch in nuclear weapons' targeting data.
The Wall Street Journal mentioned Donna Bascom, attorney for rising star film writer and director Todd Solondz in Hollywood. The article related how aggressive film producers practically stalk young, directorial talent and how one notso shy producer literally barged into Donna's office seeking to sign her client for a film. Lucky he found Donna in the office. He'd never catch up to her if he had to run behind her as I did in the 20th Reunion IOK run.
Dave Chemerow has left his position as Playboy Enterprises Inc. executive vice president for finance and operations to become chief financial officer of Entex Information Services, a personal computer integration company in Rye, N.Y. Playboy is adding Dave to its board of directors, increasing the number of directors to seven. Such a lucky number!
