"'73 Coming Together in 1998"—Our 25th Reunion (June 18-21) is only a couple of months away. Time to commit to going if you haven't already. Gary Tomlinson, Annenberg Professor in the Humanities at UPenn, where he teaches music history and comparative literature, has been named a Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar for 1997-98. He will travel for lectures, seminars, and discussions to seven institutions: Skidmore, Rockford, Carleton, Grinnell, Birmingham-Southern, Union, and Cornell. Gary previously was awarded a Mac Arthur Prize Fellowship for 1988-93 and has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Gregg Brown has been installed as the 1998 president of the Building Industry Association of Southern California, which represents more than 1,500 member companies employing more than 210,000 persons in the building business in a six-county area. Gregg and wife Debra Melton- Brown live in Riverside, Calif., where he is also the president of the Riverside Art Museum.

A NYC edition of Avenue magazine included a profile of the Leon Black family, noting Leon's and wife Debra's philanthropic activities. Leon is president of Apollo Advisors, L.P., and its affiliate Lion Advisor, L.P. His company invests in corporate restructuring, leveraged buyouts, and real estate. Leon is a trustee of Mt. Sinai Hospital, the Cardozo Law School of Yeshiva University, and is on the chairman's council of the Museum of Modern Art. He helped the Jewish Museum build its new home and funded endowments for Jewish studies and Shakespeare studies at the College. Leon and Debra have four children.

Published sources report that class treasurer Chet Homer's skills have been recognized by the board of directors of Ocean National Bank in Kennebunk, Maine, which elected him chairman. He is currendy chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston's New England Advisory Council and serves on the board of both the York Insurance Group and Tom's of Maine Inc. Chet owns the Shawnee Peak Ski Resort in Bridgton, Maine, and lives in Kennebunkport with wife Shirley and family.

Lee Harris is vice president, engineering, at White Light Systems Inc., in Palo Alto, Calif. Since graduation Lee has been starting and running software companies. His first startup, though, was not in software but in the arts. The now internationally famous Pilobolus Dance Theatre was created by Lee and a couple of other Dartmouth students out of a course they designed to satisfy a humanities credit requirement. Lee, wife Elizabeth, and children Murray (Middlebury '99) and Ashleigh live in San Jose, Calif.

Mike Capuano is in his fifth two-year term as mayor of Somerville, Mass., which has the interesting distinction of being among the 15 "hippest" places in North America, according to Utne Reader. More practically speaking, Somerville's bond rating has increased four times during Mike's tenure, and both the tax rate and the crime rate are among the lowest in the area. Mike got his law degree at Boston College. Mike, wife Barbara, Michael (17), and Joseph (14) make their home (of course) in Somerville.
