Recently, San Franciscans have been celebrating the life and career of columnist and bon vivant Herb Caen. Herb created the three dot (...), journalism—nonsense, "man on the street" stuff without much form or substance. In that spirit, I give you this month's news.

Had a nice chat with Dennis Kehoe on a hot afternoon in New Orleans. Dennis was doing some yard work when I caught him. I suggested a "Hurricane" break but he persevered. He has spent the last decade in the Big Easy teaching Roman history and Latin at Tulane. I didn't know there was a big following for that stuff but Dennis assured me there was. Dennis got his doctorate from Michigan after a stint at Oxford with Rufus King. And I didn't...

Local boy makes good...WilliamSaufley has been named senior vice president for compliance and internal affairs at hometown Atlantic Bank in South Portland. With his law degree from U.of Maine and extensive experience in banking, he's ready. I hope IA at the bank isn't as career threatening as it is at the police department.

This note just in from a dutiful spouse..."Tom Wiggins accepted a new position at Amoco Chemical in Chicago as a licensing/intellectual property manager. His wife, Dianna, and two sons will be joining him there in May, where they will reside in the Naperville area." She even writes the family press clippings. Thanks Dianna.

Golf tip from DaveDobrowolski..."Slow takeaway, fully torqued body turn, and left knee to start the downswing."

Kathleen Hayes has just published Women on the Threshold: Voices of SalvadoranBaptist Women. It is a compilation of stories describing the challenges faced by women in El Salvador as they combat abuse, prejudice, and discrimination. Kathleen has traveled in Latin America, received a degree from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and writes for several Christian publishers.

Parthenon Group in Boston recently announced two new managing directors, Chris Jenny and Bob Bradford. The company is made up of ex-Bain & Cos.people advising and investing in attractive companies. While neither remembers crossing paths at Dartmouth, they undoubtedly squared off over a beer pong table sometime.

Dick's House update...Richie Bane has been working with the Dick's House staff to come up with a project we might support as part of our commitment. An annual photo competition and exhibit was proposed and accepted. It will create new artwork on a regular basis, provide an outlet for creative work on campus, and support an initiative to celebrate the diversity of Dartmouth. All for a relatively modest investment on the class's part. MikeHogan,Carol Muller, and NancyWasserman will judge the competition so we will have direct input on the affair. Sounds like a master stroke.

Made two calls to the Rockies. EdwardCallaway was his enthusiastic self. Life is good for him and his family as they divide their time between Crested Butte and Englewood. Peter Kenworthy and his family were out (I hope) enjoying a hike in the Telluride Valley when I called. Making those two calls, I couldn't help be reminded of our super freshman square team. Wood (actually played varsity), Bennett, Gordon,Russo, Hoar, Frater, Bell, Kenworthy,Callaway, and me. Did I forget someone? Speaking of forgetting, Genevieve Krob returned my call after six months. Seems she won her election to the town education board. Too busy for much news but even a little news is much appreciated...

News from me. Moved to the suburbs, fourth kid on the way. More work, less play. More to do, less time. More weight, less exercise. More excuses, less results. That's it, more or less.
