Dr. Joe Gonnella has been associated with the Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia since 1967. He is now senior vice president for academic affairs and dean, and recently received three honors for his work in medical education and health care, including the very first Founders Award presented by the board of directors of the Hepatitis B Foundation. Through Joe's efforts, the foundation was able to establish a research lab at the college. Joe was also recognized for his research, which has focused on the relationships between knowledge, capabilities, and actual clinical performance.
Don Hamson is making his presence felt as the chairman of the park and recreation commission of Darien, Conn. More and better facilities are needed and Don is working hard to see that improvements are made. For 16 years Don has been a youth athletic coach in football, baseball, and hockey in Darien. After working for Honeywell and NCR, Don is now an independent sales and marketing consultant.
At last report Harry Nutting had about 30 '56ers and spouses or whatever signed up for the Caribbean cruise which commences on 22 March from San Juan bound for Saint Thomas, Martinique, Barbados, Antigua, and St. Maarten. See the Wah-Who-Whisper for details. As farther incentive for more participants, Tom Rosenwald promises, if ten more people sign up, not to come and bring Van Harris.
We hope to see you all at Dartmouth Night festivities on October 31, and at the class meeting on November 1 before the Harvard game, as well as at the dinner in the Tavern that evening. It is always a grand time, and Joel Ash has promised a new limerick for the occasion.
