John Yin, assistant professor of engineering sciences at the Thayer School, was one of 20 American scientists to receive a 1996 Presidential Early Career Award for Science and Engineering. Each award carries a grant of $100,000 a year for up to five years and supports self-designed research and teaching projects. In 1994 Yin received a National Science Foundation Young Investigator Award.
