Jon Merriman is director of stocks at Dabney/Resnick/Imperial in Beverly Hills. He was quoted in the Wall Street Journal as saying, "I don't understand why the comment would be localized to hedgehogs." Hmm. Commodities?? Oops. It says "hedge funds."

Andrea Borden and John Gillespie wellcomed daughter Chloe Soleil Gillespie last fall. She joins two brothers. Lynn Grant is a TV reporter somewhere and recentlywon an Emmy. Bill Taylor is finishing a fellowship in neuroradiology at Stanford. Charlie Oberadorf has published another book, Foragers, and is working on yet another which will be published by Avon. Geez, isn't anyone in jail or flipping burgers? Speaking of jail Ralph McDevitt reported that Andy Gaillard left the U.S. attorney's office in Connecticut to join Day, Berry & Howard.

Andy mysteriously told Ralph, "Upon arrest, say nothing and call me." Ralph wanted to know if he could call collect. Ralph also made some comment about some people just marrying well. Finally, Ralph called me a hippie because of my address. Ralph is living on borrowed time. (And he didn't even get the Guthrie on Woodstock thing. Even pizza delivery people get it.) F.Y.l. our cross street is High Street. Oookay...Jack Oakes left T. Rowe Price to join Legg Mason Wood Walker as associate vice president and director of retail marketing.

Filmmaker David Hamlin recently made an award-winning documentary about cancer in children and will now be moving on to adventure films for National Geographic Explorer. Cool. I think I watched something awhile back on NGE about rats in India. REALLY disgusting. Jon Ettinger was made an environmental partner at Foley, Hoag & Eliot. J. Brooks Dougherty was named a principal at Scudder, Stevens & Clark. I have no idea what he does or where. Leaves a lot to the imagination, doesn't it?

Which reminds me I made a similar comment recently about Rob Ford, although then I also hinted about adult diapers and the Mafia. Soon thereafter, I received a letter from Rob's assistant, who told me politely that Rob was the president and founder of his own company, Job Direct, "The entry-level employment solution."

She also called him an inspiration and sent a picture of Rob standing debonairly next to the company's bus, which tours the country visiting college and university campuses. Dear Rob: Are you mad at me? If so, I apologize. The price of comedy, I guess. Onward John Kaplan married Mimi Champenois, Denison '84, last May. John left J. P. Morgan to be a director of Smith Barney's Debt Capital Markets Group and Mimi is a sales manager for Imm unex. They are now expecting. They are also moving to Mountain Lakes, N.J. Wedding attendees were ushers Bill Crenshaw and John Colon, Austin Beutner, Jack Blunt, Doug Cole, Steve McCarthy, Jon Merriman, J. J. Hanley Mylnarski, Shaun Rai, and Derek Webb. I hope for the sake of whomever paid for the wedding that there was not an open bar.

Finally, Kathy Boak Dubishar whirled into Bloomington on the way to St. Louis last fall. She, her husband, and her three children were ALL wearing matching tropical-fish shorts. Craig works for Venable, Baetjer & Howard and spent the four hours on the phone while our collective five children tore the house apart. I remember that a hose was somehow turned on and all of the fish shorts had to be put into the drier. All was chaos. As they were leaving, my husband collapsed on the porch steps and said quizzically, "Well, that was interesting, wasn't it?"

And speaking of more information, I've got lots more news but no space. Off to watch the grass grow...
