Halley Moore '93 is making ski helmets she hopes, will help prevent head in juries from ski accidents Such as the one that killed her sister Wendy during a family trip last year. From a former torpedo plant in Cleveland, Halley oversees Team Wendy, which she started with sister Heather and Advice from her entre preneur father. "Our goal," "is to get' more people to wear helmet; the slopes by making one that is comfortable, stylish and safe."
The result is the Ripleyhelmet line ("Ripper tor kids), which is hitting ski and snow Board stores this fall. They come in three sizes and 12 colors from "fresh powder blue" to "mad dog maroon." The helmet is cropped to allow maximum vision and hearing, and Hlley is awaiting a patent on and adjustment system that tightens the helmet from the shell down.
To help other heads, the Moores are currently working with the Cleveland Clinic to develop a cranial remodeling orthosis (another kind of helmet) for infants whose heads were deformed while their skulls were soft and a bike helmet they hope to unveil in 1999.
