David Houston '67, head of realty group Colliers Houston in Teaneck, New Jersey, has been elected president of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors.
Dr. Edward Hartley '71 is the new president of the American Orthopaedic Association. He is the chair of the department of orthopaedic surgery at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Robert Corrente '78 has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the next U.S. attorney in Rhode Island. He's a partner in the Providencebased law firm Hinckley, Allen and Snyder and is chairman of the State Supreme Court ethics: advisory panel.
Elyse Allan '79. Tu'84, has been appointed president and CEO of GE Canada, based in Mississauga, Ontario. She was most: recently president and CEO of the Toronto Board of Trade.
Ed Fernandes '80 has been named to the National LawJournal's annual list of top 10 litigators. He is a partner in the securities litigation practice of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in Austin, Texas.
Thilo Semmelbauer '88 is the new chief operating officer of North American operations of Weight Watchers International, based in Woodbury, New York. He previously was president and chief operating officer of the company's online site.
Zachary Levine '89, a neurosurgeon at the Washington Brain & Spine Institute, was named one of the "Best of Washington" by WashingtonianMagazine for his work on deep-brain stimulation.
Lana Smith '04, an All-America lacrosse player at Dartmouth, was named the State of New Hampshire NCAA Woman of the Year. The Annapolis, Maryland, resident helped lead Dartmouth to a pair of Ivy championships as well as NOW quarterfinals for three years.
