Mead Over has taught economics for 11 years at Williams College and Boston University, but it wasn't until he joined the World Bank in Washington, D.C., as a senior economist that he discovered the true meaning of mergers and acquisitions.

Because that's when he met and married fellow senior economist Elizabeth King. And there's been the inevitable family inflation with Alexandra, now 7, a student at Sidwell Friends, and Veronica, 3.

Among Mead's study areas is his research into the impact of the AIDS epidemic on Africa and his private pursuit of the perfect windsurfing wave.

Jeffrey, now Jessica, Winograd e-mailed to say "In September I successfully underwent gender reassignment surgery in Oregon and am doing beautifully now. I would like to thank those schoolmates who sent me letters of support. They meant a lot to me."

Here and there: Class Prez Bob Serenbetz and Karen have moved back to Bucks County, Penn. from San Francisco following the sale of DNA Plant Technology, of which he was COO, to Empressa La Moderna. Bob will now oversee the Fresh World Farms division...GaryJefferson is professor of economics at Brandeis University and four-times a grandfather...Not to be outdone, WayneLoCurto, head of Actmedia has six grandkids, and counting (two daughters Susan '95 and Carolyn, married in the second half of 1997!).

Six classmates toasted the health of their '97 legacy graduates on the porch of the Hanover Inn the Saturday before graduation Gary Broughton, Wally Hodges,Steve Lanber, Jim Lustenader, MikeMcConnell, and Bob Spence. It sounds like a tradition that those of us with '98 off-spring should strive to maintain. How 'bout 4 p.m.!

Randy's also a civic leader in the Boy Scouts, the Missouri Historical Society and the local business development group. Earlier in his career he was a partner at management consultant Cresup McCormick and Paget.

Speaking of finances, why not start the year with a contribution to the Class of 1966 Scholarship Fund. When it reaches $50K the College will name a current student a "Class of 1966 Scholar" and we'll be able to follow his/her progress. And, it's even easier and less expensive to contribute news to this column and Jim Lustenader and the class newsletter (800-526-8712, x3307). Thanks.
