Many sports teams leave the Hanover plain and head across the country during spring break in search of warm weather, sun, and, of course, a little competition. In doing so, they provide a chance for alumni to catch a game or two on their own turf. Here's a sampling:
The women's lacrosse team will be at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida,
March 17-23. On the way home, the women will stop at the University of Maryland for a 3 p.m. game on March 25.
The men's lacrosse team will play at Holy Cross on March 18 (3:30 p.m.) and will head south for a pair of matches at Chapel Hill, North Carolina. They face Virginia Military Institute on the 21st (11 a.m.), and on the 24th the University of North Carolina (7:30 p.m.). The lacrosse team will finish its trip with a 1 p.m. game at Stony Brook, New York, on the 28th.
The men's lightweight crew will be in Augusta, Georgia, during spring break and on March 21 will be racing in the Augusta Invitational Regatta, the premier Southern race of the early season. The men'sheavyweight and women's crews will be training in Oak Ridge,
Tennessee.
The baseball team faces possible opponents Oklahoma State, New York Tech, Indiana, Liberty, and the University of Massachusetts during the Homestead Challenge Division I Tournament in Homestead, Florida. Tournament play begins on March 18. After the tournament, the team will play a game each day against teams from across the country who share the same training locations. Among those scheduled: Drexel University, Kent State University, Oakland (MI) University, and Upper Iowa.
