Companions and Latter-day Odysseuses
The best translations of the Odyssey are by Richmond Lattimore (Harper'& Row,1967) and Robert Fagles (Viking Press, 1996). Lattimore, a 1926 Dartmouth graduate, is more faithful to the Greek text, while Fagels brings out Homer's story more powerfully.
