Bill Wilson has asked for the following free ad. I'm generally against giving away advertising space without getting paid, but I'm making an exception for a good cause:
"REUNION VOLUNTEERS NEEDED—Many good jobs still available! The good news is that I've filled the two toughest assignments on the team, treasurer (B) and food/beverage (the peerless Star Johnson who I think is trying to get a couple of kegs out of his basement that are left over from the 25 th). With the money in safe hands and the risk of food poisoning minimized, I'm also happy to announce that Gary Miller, our class of '7O webmaster () has agreed to design a "virtual reunion" site for the benefit of those unable to attend. There are other classmates I have informally approached who indicated a willingness to help out. They know who they are and can expect to hear from me shortly. Anyone interested in contributing time and talents to the reunion effort should let me know. Here is a list of areas where we can use help. If you have a specific interest let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate you: entertainment, symposia, souvenirs/giveaways (anyone in the business is most welcome), publicity/attendance, registration, sports events (coordinating golf, etc.), memorial service. Also, the committee welcomes suggestions from any classmate regarding specific programming ideas. While we can't guarantee your idea(s) will be incorporated, the reunion committee will certainly give them our full consideration. Any and all correspondence is welcome."
Bill Wilson is at 85 Blueberry Lane, Concord, MA 01742; . Bill says he is sending me more updated information, but I didn't want to miss this month's column. As long as I'm giving it away, I might as well pass along this advert from Star Johnson regarding fall minireunions: "Same routine as in the past—a tent set up all day Saturday in front of Heorot on Homecoming weekend, Oct. 23, against Cornell; we'll share the tent with the '69s and '71s, and I'm also inviting the '72s. We supply beer, some liquor, soda, munchies, and a grill; supply one's own food. There is free parking on the lawn, first come, first serve. We'll be set up about 10- 10:30 a.m. Friday night is the Alumni parade through downtown Hanover, which can be comical. Also, the College and the Inn are sponsoring a pre-game brunch in a tent across the street from ours, Saturday morning (not free). Then, on Saturday, Nov. 6, in NYC, at Columbia, we'll sponsor a tailgate in the parking lot just outside the stadium. It's small enough that we can find each other, wherever we set up; all BYO. The Columbia football stadium is a great place to tailgate—very easy to get to, intimate, lots of partying going on, and a few feet from the game. It would be great to see as many met- ropolitan alums as possible there, especially to help kick off the 30th Reunion year." Okay, that's it for the free stuff. Next month I'll publish a rate card and get StuZuckerman to sell the ad space.
