Over lunch at my desk, I often skim the New York tabloids reading about the latest Leo sighting, Mick and Jerry's divorce, and...Jeff Wadlow. Yes, indeed, in Cindy Adams' July 9 column, Cindy writes "At Claudia Cohen's personal screening of The Thomas Crown Affair, Katie Couric brought her nephewjeff Wadlow. He'd been Pierce Brosnan's assistant on the movie. In one dance scene, Rene Russo wears a sexy see-through gown. You see everything but her tonsils. So, was it a body double or real Rene? 'All Rene,' grinned the handsome young film student. 'I know. I was right there.' This kid's in all the right places. Even bunking at Auntie Katie's new Park Ave. flat which gets featured in September's Good Housekeeping." An e-mail to Jeff elicited that he is indeed enrolled in USC film school this fall. He still keeps m touch with Pierce and Rene and has been acting, writing, and doing production assistant work for NYPD Blue, a film with Kevin Spacey and Danny DeVito, and the new Sandra Bullock flick, 28 Days.

Also living the glamorous film life is aurissa Horwitz who slipped me a short note between her stint at Road Rules and the MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles. In fact, while she was helping edit the show, Mike Myers stopped by to supervise some of the Austin Powers spoofs.

And, of course, some wedding announcements found my inbox. Peter Barnes married Erica Wygonik '99 in May....after making her work for her engagement ring. Last February, with complicity from her friends, he handed her a crossword puzzle and sent her on a scavenger hunt around Hanover. The hunt ended at the covered bridge in Lebanon where Peter popped out of the foliage and proposed. Dan Mazzucco was part of the wedding party, Josh Chuang was the wedding photographer, and JasonHsaio and Brad Jefferson, among others, trekked to Hanover for the wedding. After Erica's spring term, the couple honeymooned in Switzerland and then moved into digs in Lebanon. Peter is on the Young Life staff working with Lebanon and Mascoma high school kids and also works as a pastoral assistant at the First Baptist Church. Another '98 couple got engaged near Hanover recently. Kevin Walsh kept his intentions to propose to Shannon Jarosh so secret that not even Jeff Beyer suspected what was up when he ran into them at Simon Pearce last May. Shannon wrote me that they drove up to Armington Cabin after dinner and Kevin surprised her with a heartfelt proposal and a lovely ring. I'll leave the details to them to tell people. Congratulations to both happy couples!

Miriam Marcum recently visited AnneKanyusik in Bangladesh where Anne is stationed with the Peace Corps. Miriam and Anne met up in Dhaka and vacationed for two weeks in India, including a camel safari in the Rajasthan desert among their activities. Anne plans to be in Bangladesh until December 2000 and will travel all over Asia in the next year and a half.

Christina Campo and Miriam are both starting med school this fall; Christina at University of Maryland and Miriam at University of Kentucky. Before starting •gross anatomy, they are visiting LileiHuang in San Francisco and taking Amtrak via Seattle, Glacier National Park, North Dakota, and Chicago, where they will bunk with University of Illinois law student Kathleen Barry. Keep writing me at or at my alum account. If you want to get in touch with anyone mentioned in the column, blitz me. I don't have enough room to include all e-mail and snail mail addresses. Hope you had a good summer...funny that we are now followed in the magazine by the newest "young alums." See you at Homecoming.
