Updates are dwindling to a slow trickle. Let me know what you are up to...or I'll have to start making it up. E-mailing me at my alumni account is best as all my other addresses and numbers will have changed by the time this is printed.
Katherine Brown and Julie Herron bumped into each other at the post office in Reno, Nevada, where both are summering. Katherine is moving to New York City at the end of the summer to enroll at Columbia's Teachers College for her master's in science education. Once she gets her degree, she plans on teaching middle-school earth science.
Julie Herron is engaged, to her surprise, to her boyfriend, Andy, who is studying at veterinary school in Spokane, Washington. "I saw patients all day today and didn't get done until 5:30, I was totally exhausted and when Andy came to pick me up from work he was all dressed up and had roses and had brought me a dress and shoes and makeup and told me he wanted to take me out on a surprise date...so we went out to sushi and came back to my apartment (I was totally unsuspecting) and he made me an ice cream sunday that had all this stuff on it (strawberries and whipped cream and cookies and stuff) and one of the things was a fortune cookie. He opened his and it didn't have a fortune in it and so he was like, 'Well, that's weird, does yours have a fortune in it?' and I (still unsuspecting) opened it up and the ring was in there! And after he asked me and I said yes, I was like, 'How did you get that in there?' I didn't knowyou could steam them open and then close them up again." Congratulations to Julie. The wedding is set for the end of this year.
Simon Holmes a Court, wife Katrina and baby son Will left San Fran over a month ago. Will is now 15 months old and "walking and speaking his own language very fluently...he loves to play with his big sister, Lucy the beagle. Crosby (also a beagle) is unimpressed." The family has packed up their house and headed to Australia, via Europe for the next year. By the time this is printed, they will have visited friends in Hong Kong and Frankfurt. In the latter city they are picking up their campervan /RV and launching on a three-month journey driving around Europe with stops in the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland and Austria.
