By the time this hits newsstands everywhere, our five-year reunion will be over and this will be chockfull of news. And by the time of the reunion, Colleen O'Connor will be married to fellow med student Kevin Jo. The lovely couple is moving to Denver to start their residencies. Colleen was lured by her enterprising older sister to a surprise bridal shower in early April at her family's New Jersey home, where her bridesmaids surprised her, including Ji-Mee Hwang and Heather Lew. Ji-Mee flew out on the red-eye from San Fran while Heather came out of N.Y.C. by train. After a lengthy bridal shower in which several of the bridesmaids made very fetching toilet paper brides, Colleen was bundled into the city for a karaoke-crazy bachelorette party.
For those of you around Smithville, Tennessee, this past April, you might have caught Ben Wrights BFA solo exhibition, Who's Watching Who? The College forwarded the exhibition postcard that featured an intriguing image of 1.1. Revolutions, a piece integrating blown glass, paint, wood and feathers.
Peter Barnes has also been stretching his artistic wings. He and Courtney Williamson '93 founded a literary magazine called Fizgig. Peter and Courtney characterize their Webzine as a written art exhibit, a visual literary anthology. "Part poetry, part visual art, part fiction, part cultural detritus, with a bit of rebel theology on the side, our subjects are the timeless ones: god, love, loss, and mammon." Fizgig has already received some good press from the literary community. Poets & Writers magazine recently highlighted it in their online edition.
Keith Zorn wrote in recently to let me know that he and Denise O'Connell '00 are engaged and will be getting married this September in Boston. That's it. It's been a slow couple of months for my inbox. You know how to reach me with your news and gossip.
