President James Wright traveled to Asia in November for a reception with the Hong Kong Club, a reception at the residence of Trustee Stephen Bosworth '61 with the new Korea Club, and a gathering with the Japan Club to present the Kan'ichi Asakawa Award to Chiharu "Chick" Igaya '57. Established by the Dartmouth Club of japan in memory of Dr. Asakawa, the first Japanese student to graduate from the College (class of 1899) and a famed historian, the award honors the spirit of international understanding.Igaya, who won a silver medal in skiing during the 1956 Winter Olympics and has been inducted into the U.S. Skiing Hall of Fame, is an executive board member of the International Olympic Committee.
