Two classmates, who succeeded in traditional fields, have logged onto the Internet big time. Rick Braddock, formerly president of Citicorp and in the past a prospect for CEO at American Express and Eastman Kodak, has become chairman and CEO of Stamford, Conn.-based Priceline.com. Ken Novak, formerly managing partner of a prominent Boston law firm, is now vice chairman of America Online, serving as advisor to Steve Case, the chairman, and Bob Pittman, the president of AOL.

Rick was an early investor in Priceline, which matches buyers and sellers for airline tickets, new cars, and other products and services in an auction-like process. Rick's computer business experience dates to a directorship with Lotus Development Corp., one of many high-level activities since Citicorp. He's also non-executive chairman of True North Communications Inc., a Chicago advertising holding company that owns the interactive media company Modem Media, Poppe Tyson, and ad giant Foote, Cone & Belding. Rick lives in Manhattan.

Ken Novak has been serving as advisor to Steve Case and Bob Pittman ever since AOL first retained his law firm, Mintz, Levin. Along the way, Ken forged the joint venture of AOL and the Chicago Tribune and led the negotiations with Bertelsman & Cos. for AOL Europe. He also took AOL public. There was a time, said Ken, when "I could only read e-mails that were two inches or shorter because I hadn't figured out how to scroll down on the computer."

The referees were an hour late because of the weather, so that gave Troyce and Hank Jenckes of Houston plenty of time to visit with Jay '02 at Levien Gymnasium in New York prior to the Columbia basketball game. Jay is a reserve on the Dartmouth squad along with Vedad Osmanovic '02, recruited from Dwight School in New York, where Steve Spahn is headmaster. The weather was pretty bad too in New London, N.H., but not necessarily a big problem for Bob Friedlander, a radiologist on weekend call at hospitals in Lebanon, Claremont, and New London in New Hampshire and a hospital in Windsor, Vt. Bob is able to use a system called teleradiology which is hooked up to a computer at home and through which he can handle CT scans and other x-rays. Bob grew up in suburban New Jersey but opted for the Upper Valley where he and Linda ski and hunt and raise horses and calves on an old dairy farm. They have the best of both worlds by commuting to season seats at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Linda is a molecular geneticist at Dartmouth's Thayer School. Bob's favorite opera is Tosca. His favorite composer is Puccini.

Bruce Algar parlayed ten valuable years with Ross Perot's EDS Systems into a career in high-level data processing. He keeps track of customers' finances in the wealth management trust department of the Bank of America in Dallas. Bruce and Judy have two grown daughters, Stephanie and Bonnie.
