Congratulations to KristinKuroda and Chris "Eddie" Boran '95. They were engaged on November 14. They are planning to get married at Dartmouth in September 1999.

I have received a number of funny e-mails recently. Mike Merls and Jeremy Segal had me laughing for quite some time. Their first e-mails were a little too risque for this column, but even Mike's tamed-down message kept me giggling. Thanks for the entertainment, guys.

Mike, Jeremy, and Joe Casal are roommates in Astoria in Queens, N.Y.

Mike wrote, "Joe Casal works somewhere. I have no idea what the company is called. It used to be called GEORGESON! ! but I think GEORGESON! got bought out. You have to say GEORGESON! as if you are a samurai in an Akira Kurosawa film, sort of with a guttural, angry bark. Hence the capitalization and exclamation point. It's a rule I made up for our apartment.

"Jeremy works for the Arthur Diamond AIDS Research Center. He does lab work and is applying to medical school. He already has my vote for Most Likely to Leave a Scalpel in a Patient's Abdomen.

"Despite claims to the contrary, I am employed and a very dedicated and valuable worker. For example, if I sleep late and do not make it to work in the morning, my coworkers are compelled to telephone me PERSONALLY and urge me to come into the office. I am simply that vital to the continued success of my employer."

And Jeremy wrote, "Had a great time hanging out with Mark Landis, DaveColeman, Craig Allen, Chad Sclove, and Josh Mills on a recent trip to Boston. Mark is working as a waiter at this cool little French cafe in Cambridge and trying to finish up a screenplay...Dave is enjoying his second year in Utilities Consulting at Northbridge Group and in his spare time has joined a group which does performance art in the Boston Commons on Sundays. Any Boston people, if you get a chance, go check them out! Chad's job at Monitor Consulting doesn't leave him much time to pursue his musical ambitions, but he still has managed to get a bluegrass band together and do a few shows around town. Check out Dick's Last Resort on a Thursday night, and you might find them. Craig is working at Computer Sciences Consulting and has recently announced his engagement to Dawn Lawrie! Lasdy, Josh is working as a computer programmer at D.E. Shaw and volunteering on the side at the local JCC." Jeremy also added that Mike won an internet contest for "best fictitious Sony Playstation game" and got himself a nifty free T-shirt. Thanks, guys.

Xantha Bruso moved to San Francisco this past August. She is living with AmeliaStephenson and Heather Brubaker. Xantha recently wrote, "We've been having a good time getting to know the city and its environs and have met up with some other '97s—Claire Hibbs, who's doing Teach for America in East Oakland, Amy Stein,Nancy Salumbides, John Pellettieri, and Jill Hunter. As for work, I've been doing Geographical Information Systems stuff (computer mapping) at a bunch of different companies and hope to get a longer-term job doing it. I'm also applying to geography grad schools. That's pretty much it for now—a bunch of us out here hope to get out to the Dartmouth Club's cabin near Lake Tahoe soon. If anyone is in the Bay Area, they can reach Amelia and Heather and me through my name in the phone book or information, or e-mail me at ."
