Every time a Class Notes (deadline rolls around, I get a panicky feeling that I will have nothing to say. But to your credit, I usually manage to find an e-mail or bump into someone who knows something about somebody and suddenly everything falls into place.

This month my hodgepodge of mail disproves my previously held belief that I was the only unmarried member of the class. However, as of 10:30 this morning, I have confirmed that in fact, lam now the last unmarried member of the class of 1990. It took almost nine years, but Becky Baggett finally felt she had news to report to the Alumni Magazine. She married Moshe Haspel (Yale '90) last January in Atlanta. The couple met a two years ago at a running club. She writes, "I'm a bit biased on this issue, but I thought the wedding was wonderful, especially since a respectable handful of Dartmouth alumni, John and MegAronsohn, JoanSlattery, John andAdriana Luedke, Ty Hoffman '88, and my brother, Bill Baggett '84, were in attendance. My favorite part of the wedding was when our two cultural heritages meshed beautifully during the reception. The band played Stars Fellon Alabama and then immediately followed with Hava Nigela it was great fun...I'm keeping my maiden name and Moshe's keeping his too;-)." Becky is getting an M.Ph. from Emory, and Moshe is currently working for a Democratic pollster/public opinion firm.

Larry Specht sent an e-mail and three beautiful color photos from his May 1998 Boston wedding. Tim Guy, DarrenDoyle, Dave Thut, and Ben Schwartz '91 were the four groomsmen. Also in attendance dance were: Ben Forbush, KarenKharitonov, Cindy (Peterson) '89 and Frank Hamblett, Tracy (Taylor) '87 and Peter Eastman, Ken Hedley '87 and soonto-be-bride Kristina, and Kate (Harris) Thut '86 all former Dartmouth sailors. Also present were Charles Collis '37, Robert Faulkner '56, and John Guy '60. Larry is currently in his third year of residency in orthopaedic surgery at The Hospital for Joint Diseases in NYC. His wife, Michelle Connolly Specht, is a general surgery resident at Cornell University. He writes that the Dartmouth '90' sailing team has been busy with weddings and births. Ben Forbush, a '95 Dartmouth med school graduate, married med school classmate mate Nancy McNulty on September 26 in Hanover, with a reception at the Lyme Inn; and the Thuts welcomed their second son, Charles.

I always look forward to Jane Varner and Amit Malhotra's e-mail birth announcements because they are always bilingual and begin: Birth/Geburt. What a wonderful word Geburt is! As of October 20,1998, the Malhotras have a new daughter, Helen Neena. She weighed in at 7 lbs, 8 oz. Jane writes, "Zoe has taken to her baby sister in a big way, showering her with tender kisses whenever possible and crying when she cries!"

Sarah Stearns moved to the Lakeview area of Chicago to do her internship in pediatric psychology at Children's Memorial. She invites other Dartmouth Chicagoans to give her a call at (773) 529-8483.

Matt Greene is trying to begin a community service project that would involve our class. It's called Dartmouth Partners in Community Service (DPCS), and it is a program that was started by the class of '59 (which happens to be Matt's father's class...). Matt writes, "The program is very well established and the '59s are looking to expand the program to involve other classes and local alumni clubs. It consists of undergraduates who perform community service activities, alumni/ae who serve as mentors and advisors, and local and national service organizations that provide internship and learning opportunities." Since I've learned that decisions from a body as large as our class proceed at the speed of molasses, this may be a topic that we as a class should discuss at reunion. You're coming, aren't you?
