Huntly Allison reports that Ginia is doing great following the ankle replacement operation she had last year. They found the only doctor in the country who can perform this procedure, which has been successful in Denmark for some years. Ginia was the 21st to have it done in the United States. She is now back playing tennis and started skiing again last winter. They are living part-time in Kendal in Hanover and still have their house in Quechee, Vermont.
From Switzerland, Hazen Hinman writes: "Sorry to be so tardy responding to your March DAM accusation (Secretary's Note: I said that the 50th reunion roster reported that he was the first in the class to retire) that yours truly was leadoff goof-off of the class. Not so. At our 25th reunion, the late Nate Ward (he wasn't late at that time) told us that he had already been self-pas-ture-ized some time before. He also had elected to un-retire himself before reunion, something to do with his father's construction business....
"But to continue this pursuit of trivial awards, how's about a stab at one more honorable: first of the May 10 cap-&-towners to head overseas or land in a war zone? Sailed out of NYC June 30, arrived at Suez September 1, was on hand for the opening barrage of the big push at Alamein October 23,1942." (Anyone care to challenge this award?)
"Incidentally, if early retirement smacks of indolence, to quote another, the activity level from then 'til now has ever increased the wonderment at how I ever used to find time to go to work! Trust all successful retirees will echo that one."
Baker Library reports that there were 13 class members, whose deaths were reported last year, who are to be memorialized through the Memorial Books Program.
