■ Kiplinger's ■ Personal Finance ranked Dartmouth12th (tied withPrinceton) last September in a list of private colleges offering"a good mix of price and academic quality."

■ Dartmouth did not make thelist of Top 20 Universities in Faculty Quality recently compiled by the U.S. National Research Council.

■ In its September issue, Men's Health magazine included Dartmouth on its list of the10 most anti-male schools in thecountry.

■ Last year the John Templeton Foundation included Dartmouth on its "Templeton HonorRoll," a list of 100 schools exhibiting "a strong and inspiringcampus-wide ethos that articulates expectations of personaland civic responsibility in all dimensions of college life."

■ Metrosource, a New York City-based magazine that describes itself as "A Celebration and Exploration of Urban Gay Life," included Dartmouth on a list of 10 "Questionable Schools for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Students" last fall.

■ Princeton Review's Best 331Colleges Ranked by Studentsthis year ranked DartmouthNo. I in "best quality of life,"ahead of Davidson College (No.2), Agnes Scott College (No. 3)and Harvard (No. 4).

■ A. Magazine recently rankedDartmouth as the 49th best university for Asian-Americans.

■ 100 Best Colleges for AfricanAmericans (from 1998) does notinclude Dartmouth. Nor doesDartmouth appear on the top100 list compiled in May byHispanic Outlook in HigherEducation magazine or the listof disability-friendly collegescompiled two years ago by NewMobility magazine.

■ Dartmouth didn't make Mother Jones magazine's list of "TopTen Activist Colleges" that ranin its September/October 1998issue.
