Basmattee Boodram was sad that she missed reunion last summer, but writes that she had a good reason: She was working for the American Lung Association at the time, and was involved in a bike ride across America to raise money for lung disease research. Montana was her favorite state, so she returned to the Northern Rockies this past summer for a twoweek hiking trip. "Right now, I am working for the Office of AIDS Research at the New York City Department of Health as a public health epidemiologist," she says. "I've been here for eight months and I'm already about to burn out." Basmattee hopes to return to academia at some point for a doctorate in epidemiology. Perhaps by the next reunion, you will have your Ph.D., Basmattee! Hope to see you there!

Lou Lopez writes with news from San Antonio: "I got married on January 9,1999, to a wonderful woman, Belinda (Arriaga) Lopez, here in San Antonio." Belinda is a clinical pharmacy research nurse, and Lou has been doing managed health-care finance for the past five years. "We actually got engaged in California on Super Bowl Sunday of 1998—I know, very romantic." In attendance were Brenda Rangel '95, David Kepes '75, and Michael Gardner, "a one-ofa-kind groomsman who fashionably arrived in San Antonio about 20 minutes before the wedding. Fortunately, after slapping on a tux and downing a few tequilas, Mike was loved by family and friends." Congratulations, Lou! As for Mike, he has recently relocated from Boston to San Francisco, where he has joined the dot-com world, helping to head up activitymax.com, a Web-based activity-booking and events-planning service that sounds pretty cool. The site is set to go live in the months ahead, so before you plan your next big ski trip, white-water rafting adventure or any other big vacation or group event, you may be wise to check it out. You can also ask Mike more about it by sending him an e-mail at mgardner@activitymax.com. Other news about someone in the dot-com industry comes from Business Wire, where I read that Sean Nolan was promoted to VP of technology and chief technical officer of drugstore.com. Previously, Sean had served as the CEO of Turtleback Software, a company that builds Web-based applications for e-mail and personal information management. In 1996 Sean co-founded and served as VP of technology for Cognisoft. Before that, he worked for Micrsoft. Wow—that's quite a resume, Sean! Congratulations on your promotion. Just a few hours/miles in between these two dot-com dudes lives Dr. Clarissa Andic, who is doing her residency in internal medicine at UC-Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. Clarissa graduated from USC Medical School in Los Angeles before making the move north to Sacramento. Good luck, Clarissa! From the society desk of The New York Times comes the announcement of Laura Stacks June wedding to Regis Antonin de Ramel in Newport, Rhode Island. Laura is an analyst in Durham, North Carolina, for the Pechan-Avanti Group, an environmental consulting business. She is starting an M.B.A. program at UNC-Chapel Hill this fall. Lauras husband is a leasing associate for CMD Realty, a real-estate investment company in Durham. I will be looking out for Laura in the months ahead, as I plan my own move to Durham. By the time you read this, I hope to be settled in my new home in North Carolina, as I tear myself away from New England and head south to begin a Ph.D. program in English at Duke University. If any of you are in the area, please let me know, as I'm sure I'll be lonely down there, despite all that Southern hospitality! In the meantime, please continue to stay in touch! Take care.
