Low news inflow this month, so this article will feature highlights of the recent class executive committee meeting in July, and preview upcoming class events. Help me out: Send news and updated e-mail addresses to me at the addresses below.

On July 16 11 class members met at the beachfront home of Bill Webster in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, to represent the class in reviewing status, plans and issues and to help set the agenda for the larger class meeting that traditionally takes place in Hanover at the class mini-reunion at Pierces Lodge. The meeting was presided over by class president Hank Amon, who drove up from New York City. Also in attendance were Jim Griffiths, Mike Bettmann and Steve Fowler from New Hampshire; Mike Gonnerman and Bob Blake from Boston; Mike Orr up from South Carolina; and Bob Ernst from Illinois. I was in the Newport, Rhode Island, area on assignment. (The class executive committee includes anyone interested in the activities of our class who is willing and able to show up for any meetings—so feel free to make your desire to participate known.) The fine record of our class rolls along. We are well off financially with no outstanding liabilities. We annually support a number of Dartmouth-related special funds. We exceeded our FY 2001 Alumni Fund goal by a heal thy amount, including participation close to 50 percent. The first scholar under our Class of 1965 Scholarship Fund will be named from the incoming class this fall. Over the long run the goal is to have one scholar named per year as recipient of the class of 1965 scholarship award.

Issues raised to be addressed in October include firming up our next out-of-Hanover minireunion, setting the locale and timing for the 2003 out-of-Hanover mini, several ideas for new class projects and the 40th reunion. To give you a few dates to mark down: the class mini-reunion in Hanover is October 19-21; the 2002 mini is tentatively planned for Hong Kong October 36,2002; and our 40th reunion in Hanover will be June 13-16,2005.

By the time you receive this it will be close to our mini in Hanover. I have heard that Pete and Marsha Frederick are definitely planning to drive up, and are trying to fish Bob and Danielle Koury to join them. Dave Perinchief promised me last year that he would ink in this one; I hope he will hold to that. And many others of you who have been wondering, make this the year! Larry Duffy already has tee-times booked at Lake Morey CC for Friday afternoon and Saturday morning and can get more if needed. The class meeting will begin in Webster Hall on Saturday right after the football game and continue at Pierces Sunday morning.

Finally, maybe you happened to notice that article in Sports Illustrated in July about the"new team in an old baseball town"—the Brooklyn Cyclones. Well, be sure to root for them. Owner Hank Amon will be much obliged!
