IN LATE SPRING THE COLLEGE HIRED Moore Ruble Yudell Architects and Planners to design a cluster of new buildings for the North Campus. Expected to cost $75 million, the project will include two to three residence halls, a new dining facility and Kemeny Hall, the future home for the mathematics department. Named after Dartmouth president and computer pioneer John Kemeny, the building will stand on the site of the now-demolished Kiewit Computation Center.
The California-based firms previous work includes educational buildings designed for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; the University of California campuses at Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and Berkeley; and the University of Washington-Tacoma.
Construction is scheduled for early 2003, with completion expected in 2004.
