Happy new year everyone. Even though it has been a month or two since the change of the calendar, I hope that all of you are having a safe and happy 2001.1 was fortunate enough to get up north for the holiday and met up with alums Charles Gibson, Aman Khapoya, Katie Keller, Steve O'Connor '97, Timothy Naples '00, Sebastian Barreveld '00 and Mark Culyba 00, as well as a bunch of current Dartmouth seniors, to ring in the new year. Not much news to report this month, so make a resolution to sit down and let me know what you and your friends are doing.
Danica Lo returned from Cairo last June to work at Marilyn Inc., a model agency in New York. In July she was "discovered" in the women's room of her building by the director of the Wilhelmina 10-20 division. Her first beauty editorial appeared in the October issue of Mode magazine. She left New York in September and is currently pursuing a masters degree in women's studies at Oxford University (Wadham College). Eric Eckberg wrote to tell me of his recent adventures in the Army. 'After about six months of vacation and travel, I started my active duty obligation with the U.S. Army in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, at the U.S. Army Field Artillery Officers Basic Course. During my stay there, I ran into fellow '99 Emily Csatari and her fiance, first lieutenant Randy Poulin 97, a couple times at the PX. In May I graduated at the top of my class, after having a pretty good time shooting 105-mm howitzers at pieces of junk on the impact ranges and moved to my present duty station, Fort Drum, New York, as part of the 10th Mountain Infantry Division. My job right now places me in charge of about eight soldiers, helping out the infantry by calling in artillery and mortar fires when they get in trouble. So, things are pretty exciting and I'm looking forward to the next couple years."
Kyle Marchesseault, in his capacity as New England correspondent for the Class Notes, sent in an update from Massachusetts. Kyle writes: Agreat time was had by all as Brian Salazar married his longtime girlfriend Courtney Nugent on October 7 in Andover, Massachusetts. Marc Bruni served as the best man and Jolin SalazarKish '88 was a bridesmaid. Many current and past Aires were there and performed a couple tunes at the reception. A number of other Dartmouth alums were there (including the priest who performed the ceremony) making for a terrific reunion as well as a celebration of Brian and Courtney's nuptials."
Cassie Miller sent in a great picture from the wedding of Heather Harnett and Christopher Ross. "The long-awaited union occurred on August 5 in Heathers hometown of Port Jefferson Station on Long Island," writes Cassie. "The beautiful bride and grinning groom took their vows in front of many Dartmouth friends and family. It was a true testament to the lifelong bonds forged during our four years in Hanover." Cassie is currently working as an assistant buyer of Liz Claiborne for Federated Department Stores and just bought a condo in Hoboken, New Jersey.
That's about it for now. For those of you anxious to send in contributions, please blitz them or call me since I will be moving (again) in the near future. I will still be living in Washington, D.C., though. Cheers.
