Well, folks, spring is finally here. This is a good thing, especially for those of us who live in Washington, D.C., where we got about four feet of snow this winter. This, mind you, is approximately three feet and 11 inches more than the city is equipped to handle without chaos and panic. I believe that some residents are still trapped in their homes—or maybe they are just hiding out in their "safe rooms", constructed out of plastic sheeting and duct tape, and refuse to emerge. Alas, I digress. On to the news.
Christine Shaner was married to Luke Horning on October 26, 2002, in Bethel, Maine. Several Dartmouth '99s were in attendance, including Jessica Smith, Barb Jones, Lara Kendall, Abi Holt, Aricca Dums, Doug Van Citters, Molly Anderson, Liz Stambler and Justin Neuman, as well as Walker Homes 'OO and Renee Gambell '00. The couple honeymooned in Honduras and now resides in Leadville, Colorado.
Holly Smith and Jeff Munsie have some news for the Alumni Magazine. Holly writes: "On January 4 Jeff and I got engaged! He proposed to me at Dartmouth, on the lawn in front of Baker Library. It was a quintessential Dartmouth scene with a few feet of snow already on the ground and snow falling all around. I thought we were headed to Main Street when Jeff got down on one knee in the snow to propose. Later that night we went to Simon Pearce to celebrate. We're planning on having our wedding in July 2004 after I graduate from Tuck. Jeff's still living in Boston and is working for Hale and Dorr."
A large Dartmouth contingent traveled down to Dallas, Texas, last summer for Adrienne Wilson and Dave Wagners wedding on August 17,2002. The ceremony at the Highland Park United Methodist Church was beautiful, and everyone enjoyed dancing the night away at the reception at the Dallas Country Club following the event. About 50 Dartmouth alumni made it down to Texas to help Adrienne and Dave celebrate. Dartmouth alums in their wedding party were: Amy Stone Altizer, Maria Angelica Martinez, Erika Tower '98, Jennifer Blankenship, Kristen Chartier, Leigh Eisenman, Jonathan Lee, Jeffrey Munsie, Douglas Lee, Justin Evans, Jeffrey Isaacs and George Baker '00. Of course the ceremony could not have been complete without a song from Dartmouth Decibelles alumni Yue Ling Chiu bo, Jenny Piatt '00, Kate Mattern 'Ol, Shea Mclnerney '00 and Erika Tower '98. Adrienne and Dave are now living in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where Dave is a consultant with Vantage Partners and Adrienne is completing her masters degree in education at Harvard University.
I recently flew up to Boston for the engagement party of Kyle Marchesseault and Marisa Howe '98. After sitting through a creative, yet slightly uncomfortable, rendition of The Two TheyAre Engaging, written by Kyle's close family friends and sung to the Bob Dylan tune The Times TheyAre-A Changing, I had the long-awaited opportunity to catch up with Jennie Hume, Karen Ho, Carolyn Wang and Julie Tallman—among others. With the exception of Carolyn (who is still in Beantown), all are currently in New York, at least for a little while. It was a short visit. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it to the follow-up meeting in N.Y.C. where, after a stop at Karens corner gallery of risque Dartmouth photos, the girls met up with other Dartmouth alums for a night on the town to celebrate Ho's birthday. Kyle and Marisa will be married in Portland, Oregon, at the end of August. I'm sure there will be many stories to tell after that one, so stay tuned.
See you all at Green Key. Cheers.
