Our class in 1993, from voluntary gifts with class dues, gave a $10,000 endowment for an internship at the Colleges career services office. Periodically a student gets a stipend from this fund. Spencer Jones '02, the current recipient, has written an informative and appreciative letter, which I hope Bob Ackerberg can use. Another letter for Bob is from Bruce Alpert '69, telling of the festivities for Lillian and Milt Alpert's 60th anniversary, starting with an Alaskan cruise for the family, which includes Brace's three Dartmouth sons.

One of my duties is, sadly, to write obituaries, now arising too frequently. In the first two months of 2001 we had four losses: Bill Cole, Chuck Jenkins, Win Smoyer and Dick Stoiber. To help with Chucks, I called on John Fish, his former roommate and fraternity brother, recently a neighbor on Cape Cod. The obit appears in this issue of the Alumni Magazine. The only personal news I could drag out of John was that he doesn't like being 90. Do any of us? You say, "It's better than the alternative." How do you know? My recent accomplishment is getting my driver's license renewed to 2006! California has a written test with 18 multiple-choice questions, which requires knowing everything'in its 80-page handbook. Tougher than an SAT. No driving test, but I didn't fear that. My driving is largely two miles to the supermarket and only if I can't find someone to take me. What's new or old but interesting with you?
