Our oldest classmate, Bill Ailyn, 96 last February 23, shares his life. His second wife, Mignon, a sister of his first, "Sunny," died the same month as his birthday. Bill heads a Dartmouth family, with his son, William '58, a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, both '79. Bill hopes for more among his 24 great grandchildren. In 1996 he authored a book, Welch Allyn: An American Success Story, about his father, a founder of the company in 1915 in Skaneateles, New York, and its history. Welch Allyn makes noninvasive medical instruments. After a B.Sc. in optometry from the University of Rochester, Bill became Welch Allyn's 14th employee; now there are 2,500. He headed the company in 1947 and for 25 years thereafter. Fortune included it in its 100 best places to work in the United States. Bill kept busy on boards of the Skaneateles school district, Auburn Community College, his Northwood Prep at Lake Placid for 30 years, Auburn Community and Wells colleges and in the medical field, Naples and Auburn Memorial hospitals, American Surgical Trade Association and Blue Cross of Central New York. He was chairman of four. How did you do it all, Bill?

Bill has given up golf, tennis and gardening but is blessed with a granddaughter, Kim, who lives with him and marvels at his active social life on his walker. I suspect other '32s use one too. He would love to hear from classmates, in winter at Naples, Florida (239) 6855987; in summer at Skaneateles (315) 262-2363.
