Greetings. How quickly fortunes change. I have gone from bust to boom with news of classmates, so without further ado, I'll share the wealth. Christopher P. "Kip" Hall of Darien, Connecticut, has joined Morgan Lewis, one of the 10 largest law firms in the country, as a partner in the securities litigation practice in the New York office. Prior to joining Morgan Lewis, Kip was a partner at Sidley, Austin, Brown & Wood. According to The American Lawyer, Kip represented clients in two of the 10 cases the publication noted as the most significant of the decade. Congratulations, Kip.
Institutional Investor's August 2001 issue had a nice feature highlighting Gus Sauter's achievements as the head of Vanguard Groups massive stock indexing operation. Gus has been with Vanguard since 1987, where he was hired by then president Jack Brennan, who is now Vanguards chairman and CEO.

If you haven't already found it, try checking out our class Web site, www.alum.dartmouth.org/classes/76/class76.html. Webmaster Mark Friedman is doing a terrific job keeping things updated and interesting. Mark is keeping the site up to date with pictures and interesting articles/items by or about classmates. It helps take the sting out of the space constraints posed by the Alumni Magazine. One item that I'd like to recommend is Susan Stine Felter's holiday letter to family and friends. For those of us away from the metropolitan areas directly affected by the events of September II, it really helps put things in perspective.
On a sad note, I received news of the passing of two classmates. Wade Hillman passed away November 17,2001, after a long battle with multiple myeloma, a form of bone marrow cancer. On February 9,2001, former class president Jerry Daly passed away after a long battle with brain cancer. Our thoughts and prayers go out to both families. Obituaries for both classmates will appear in a later issue of the Alumni Magazine.
Keep the news and information coming. Wishing health and good fortune to all.
